![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Skiing in Dubai - winter sport or not?In many ways this a pointless poll but i'm curious as to what people think. I'm off to Dubai on Sunday. Some of you may be aware they have an indoor ski slope in the mall of Dubai - here are the pictures Ski Dubai - and i plan to have a go on it. I was going to order travel insurance at the weekend when it occured to me that this might be classed as a winter sport. It seems a bit silly that it would be when you consider its indoors, in Dubai, and look at the photos, but nonetheless i thought i would check. Lo and behold it is classed as a winter sport!! It's only an extra £20 so i paid it, but...... Do you think this type of skiing should be classed as a winter sport for insurance purposes?? I can see both sides but would come down slightly on no, what do you guys think?

| Whoop there it is | Re: Skiing in Dubai - winter sport or not?I would have to agree with you there Saint, although it's the sort of thing I don't really pay much attention to (and who can blame me lol) I mean the pure fact that it's indoors should really be enough to justify that, and even though it's still sort of dangerous (for people who don't know how to ski especially) I'm sure there's some sort of a skiing school where you can learn. Also the fact that the wind isn't blowing (unless they've got some sort of a fake wind blowerrr installed) would help for people who aren't really top notch with skiing, and it would make it less dangerous. Lastly, they've gotta have some sort of CCTV camers installed in there, so if in case something DOES happen, they know exactly where the accident was... So all in all I don't think it's a proper winter sport, purely because you don't get the thrill lol

i also think it doesn't count as a winter sport if: 1)you can't go off piste 2)spend hours building your own jump 3)wait all summer for the ski season to start! | |
