Changes to William Hill Poker possibly affecting the league

Hi all,

Just to let you know that a couple of days ago william hill updated their game lobby and moved their system from cryptologic to ipoker which apparently is the largest online poker room (i imagine various other brand names share the same system), there are a few things to note, some of which might seriously affect the league at the moment.

1. There is no instant play browser, they hope to have one running at some point but it basically means that anyone in the league on a mac or other system won't be able to play, if this is the case maybe the league should be postponed for a while?

2. It's all in US dollars now, no biggy considering we usually play the games like this but just letting you know.

3. Your balance when you log in will be zero, all will hill funds will be in your "main" account, and you have to go to the cashier and the 'transfer' tab and select how much you want to put into your "poker" account. Also for some reason whenever you log out it transfers all your poker account money back into your main account so you have to do this every time you play!

4. A few cool things, the hand history is better now, although confusing at first, and when 2 or more players go all in it displays live odds of winning as more cards are revealed, nice touch just like televised poker

5. You have to enter a new nickname when you log in, so it's a chance to change it if you didn't like your old one, but whatever you choose you can't change it again.


So that's it really, we should find out if anyone's playing on a mac firstly before this weekend's game.

Also once you've folded you can see the cards you threw away for the remainder of the hand. Just like in Full Tilt.

If people can't play because they are on a Mac then we should use a different host next time instead of Will Hill - but there's no point in discontinuing the current league as there's no money at the end of the league anyway so its just for fun. In fact, this gives me more reason to suggest an idea I had before... When we list the league table in that sticky we should have two columns - one for total points, and one for avg. pts per game. This is because some people miss a lot of games and it would be a good incentive for them to play more often because they could see how well they've been faring against the other players on average. This would also be good if Mac users have to abandon this league and wait for the next one. In a way there is just as much kudos if not more, for winners of that column because it shows how well players have done on a per game basis.

Oh and btw, my new name on there is now Barcelonic

Yeah - William Hill have updated to the playertech software, tbh I preferred their old software but thats just me.

Another thing which I am looking at (though friends/family having birthdays and meals/celebrations has hampered that a bit) is the ability to set up private tournaments still?

It's going to be a case of watch this space.

I also prefer the old software. Don't like the new one at all. It looks too "busy".

I think I prefer the new one actually, mainly because you can make it full screen, which helps me a lot for some reason.

Also i like that you can now see your folded cards.

You can customise the look quite a bit, i like just removing the avatars so you're left with the names like before, it's how i'm playing on full tilt too.

I'm loving full tilt by the way, just downloaded the software cos i'm currently on a mac and the play is much easier to make money, thousands of players all on there and not many of them are good, on willhill you'd see the same players again and again and the game was quite tough

ye i love full tilt but havent deposited yet. when i got the software the min deposit was $50, although i think they might've lowered it now?

The first deposit you make can be as low as $10, that's what i did then was lucky enough to build it up to $80, been up and down since then though but has settled at around $80 again, i think i'm playing on levels a bit over my head!

I guess I cant really complain about my overall position but I was looking forward to the chance of being the first to win three weeks in a row.

I tried playing pot limit once before and i was awful at it - its a totally different game to no limit. Is there any reason why this was changed? Im not really complaining i'd just rather know in advance next time so i can practice

emma, just to check... claire and jay86 are on the results page as 4th and 5th, despite not playing - can i ask why?
have they been given points?

edit: lol, just realised jay86 is down twice as well - 3rd and 5th. was it her who was playing with us? if so she must have a new name
