You actually have a leg to stand on with this especially if you already bought it.

Take a look at

If you don't want to watch the whole thing I'll sum it up.

A guy went into a shop and bought and iPod for £17.50 which was obviously supposed to be £175 (this was set up by the programme) however upon the transaction going through he set off an alarm and was asked by the manager (the actress) to return to the store. She then told him that there has been a mistake and that he has to pay the rest of the difference. Eventually she gave him a credit note for 17.50

Now this is actually defined by contract law as illegal (as the video says) when you purchase those goods at that price you make a contract with the store, you hold up your end by providing the funds and they must hold up theirs.

Now if you haven't watched a video I would like to put a myth to sleep as I work in a store and people always believe this to be true.

If you go in to a shop and the iPod ticket says "£1" but it appears on the tills system as £100 the shop DOES NOT have to sell it you for £1 the law is in place to protect the shops in case anyone swaps tickets. However if the mistake is deliberate such as an advertising poster that says "Buy our iPod for just £1" and is only there to entice you then off to trading standards you pop for a lovely £12k fine for the shop.

If you have already purchased the product for the amount shown the shop cannot force you to return it, refund it automatically, or make you pay the balance, it's yours that would be stealing on their part.

So yeah just reference that video to the people (better on the phone) if they still refuse to sell it to you then fill out a small claims court application (like 1 form) and get it done there.

I think it's completely different online. If they have a clause in their T&Cs about it, you have no leg to stand on.

Edit:

I finally got a refund today... pity they didn't honour it but was worth a try!

Did see something quite funny in the top sellers after they made the mistake, 'Drupal for beginners'... obviously put there by an admin!

Lol!

Glad you got your refund, would have liked the books though!

I got some bollo*ks reply to the angry "well I bought it and paid and I don't want a refund I want my books" email...

Made no sense to me!!

I can understand the clause to protect them, shame we couldn't take advantage of their stupidity though

Why don't they just admit the pricing error instead of making up bollocks. :/
