Buy it sim free from apple? It's only a few quid more than some networks.

what is PAYG - pay as you go?
(never heard it before, but it's another way of way of saying "Phone without payment plan" right?...)

PAYG does mean pay as you go. You don't have to pay monthly and you just 'top-up' your credit when you need to/want to.

I believe you can do this when you buy from the apple site. If not then you can probably use unlock for the iphone 4 which will make it use-able for pay as you go.

Yes do what ryan1087 said buy it locked since its cheaper and then simply unlock it using Cydia which was released just a week ago.
The iPhone 4 is already expensive enough as it is without spending more money than you have to.

Depending on the network you go with, the 16GB model is only around £20 more if bought sim free from the apple website. I would just buy that and have it factory unlocked without having to mess around unlocking it yourself everytime there is a firmware update.

The signal issue has meant of been resolved with an system update and also by giving away a free case for everyone who has an iphone 4.

According to iPod Touch Fans, the iPhone 4 antenna issue may be getting a fix soon. The entire design of the iPhone casing may be redone in which they replace the back plastic piece that is prone to shattering with a metal back and install an integrated antenna.

What? Well if that's true that sucks for people who have already bought iPhone's.

I speculated Apple were going to "secretly" redesign the iPhone 4 to put an end to the Antennae issue, but when will they do it?

I am planning on getting an iPhone 4 32GB very soon....so is it worth waiting for the redesigned one to come out?

It is rumored that they will start producing either a CDMA or LTE iPhone in December of this year for a late January, early February release. By making it either CDMA or LTE, that means that other companies such as Verizon or Sprint would now be able to have the phones. Note that these are only current rumors though. Don't get your hopes up until it is official.

The only thing that is said to be different is the backing and the antenna. Which the antenna problem is fixed by a bumper case which should be used anyway. With the new one, it is going to have a metal back instead of glass. Metal back = scratches. The metal will scratch a lot easier. And thing about it... The glass ones will become obsolete, a limited edition item! Hahaha. Resell value in years may be higher for the glass backed then the metal. Who knows?

With over 600,000 iphone 4's sold on the day of launch I don't see them being obsolete or limited edition or being worth more. If they had sold a few hundred of them, maybe but not 600,000 of them!

I think it would be a huge mistake if they went back to metal backed iphones. After a few weeks they're covered in scratches and look dull. Hopefully it's just a rumour and they stick with the glass back, I wish they would impliment the glass back design on their itouches as well as they scratch too easily with the metal backs too.

Hahaha. I was just joking around about that.

And I completely agree. I have a metal backed iPod Touch and wow. The scratches are horrible. I find new ones every single day. One thing that they say is wrong with the glass backed one is that it is prone to shattering, which would suck. But I would think you would have to drop it hard. Real hard. So yeah. Glass is better in my opinion.
