| iPod 60gb | I cannot understand where they make their money. So far, I have spent £1 on a Costa card, and recommended 3 people to it, netting £21 in my account. The 3 people whom I recommended also only spent £1 for a £5 Costa card. Even if these Costa cards only cost mycitydeal 50p each, they are up £2 and down £21. I mean I understand I cannot withdraw the £21, it can only be spent on stuff, but even with a markup of 100%, the £21 worth of products will cost them £10.50. So the are down £8.50 on my transactions so far. Can anyone enlighten me as to how this business model could possibly be succesful? |

![]() ![]() | I'm guessing they get money from costa etc. and then (like freebiejeebies etc.) give some of it back to those who refer others... Loads of people wont refer and so they make a bit of a profit (or quite a bit of profit, depending on the number of people doing the deal and number of people not referring others...)

![]() | I'd second that. Must be some sort of affiliate deal going on. |

| iPod 60gb | But their only advertising is via recommendations. For example for this deal they would need to have 12 people sign up directly for every one signing up via an affiliate link. There are something like 12,000 people signed up... The figures don't add up in my head! And there is no way Cineworld is going to be paying mycitydeal to sell the vouchers, which is the only way I can think that they would make profit - they even tell people not to contact Cineworld over the offer, as it is a mycitydeal offer and not a cineworld one.. |

![]() | Because this referral credit is to be spent on their deals only, not paypal credit or anything, They started with £7 per referral, its now £6 - I'll say that they are reducing and reducing |

![]() | Bunch of muppets!A friend of mine worked for mycitydeals for a week and this is what we told me. They are a german company that are spending 6 million across 4 countries developing the model copied from "groupon" in north america. there whole strategy is to be bought from groupon within a year. The costa coffee deal cosy MCD a fortune as they published the deal without even having a deal in place with costa coffee...when it did so well they had to send all there staff out into london to buy all the costa vouchers they could find. Haha Apprently they could only buy £650 worth. Then then had to send £10 to every user they couldnt give a voucher too!!! what a bunch of muppets! |
