I'd say it's worth it.

Either you are using vista which is a complete ram hog which throws up random messages all the time. It's not very well designed.

Or you are using XP which is 8 years old... Give it a couple of years and you'll be using an operating system from a decade ago. £30 is a complete steal.

I pre-ordered the full OS instead of an upgrade for forty something, so it's not bad!

Lets be honest.. XP has another decade or so before it is technically outdated.

I'm considering getting this. But would it mean reinstalling everything? Also, does anyone know of compatibility issues with much software? I've not heard any mention.

99% of the stuff that works on Vista, works on 7.

Reinstalling everything actually doesn't take that long, unless you have loaaaaaaaaaaads of progs.

Windows 7 is definetely worth it, I've been running it since the beta and had the RC as well. I've got it free from my university now but I think I might still get this £30 offer and sell it to a friend or something as that's a really good deal.

Yes, you can install Windows 7 Home Premium from scratch, but you need to have Vista for the Professional upgrade option.
