Free .EU domains

Hi guys,

A while ago (back in 2010) a user posted on Exceem about an offer we were running giving away free 1-year .info domain registrations.

(LINK to old post = http://www.exceem.co.uk/forums/onlin...fo-domain.html)

It was quite popular on here, resulting in my being able to offer a special deal on top of the .info for ExCeem users. So I thought I would post about a similar offer we are doing, but with .EU domains.

The same rules apply and you can find details by going to Domain name giveaway from Freeola & Get Dotted

(Apologies if this is considered advertising, it is purely due to the friendly nature of the previous post that I wanted to advise user on here)

Are you doing the offer of a second name like you did on the .info's or just the one free name?

Great offer either way, thanks for letting us know

For now it's one per user. If the thread takes off like the last one did, and we have a fair amount spare I'm confident I can arrange something. I must state no guarantees though.

Ok thanks for clarifying that - and thanks once again for letting us know of the offer...

Just so that n00bs to owning domains and websites don't jump in feet first and go and build their whole online future with a domain from you could you please state what the renewal fees will be after the free year ?

Some may spend the next 9 months messing with website design and trying to promote it and not be able to follow it through with renewal.

Not had a great experience with these personally, they may have changed since I last used but a few years ago a site was built for a client and I bought hosting and a domain name with these at a fairly cheap price although you need to pay extra for the emails and to have the email extension of your domain on the end (user@domain-name.com), few other little things that bugged me.

Cheap price to start with but once you get in, you have extra costs that you will need to buy unless you have the knowledge of changing nameservers and DNS settings to use hosting elsewhere.

Absolutely. We try and keep a frame of mind where our prices are open and honest. Here is a link, the prices can be found by scrolling down Cheap Domain Renewals at Get Dotted!

Please note that this offer does not carry any obligation to use hosting services provided by ourselves, or remain with us after the original registration is up. You can use alternative DNS providers with no extra cost.

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience. Hopefully my post above, plus a few changes around our site will help in making our initial (and ongoing fees) more clear to new users.

That's just about £15.60 with VAT for an EU renewal.

Still, it is understandable that something has to pay for the cost of giving away all the free domains.

Even from the perspective of someone with minimal expertise: I'd far rather have a free site for a year, and then at the end of the year know whether of not the website has been successful. Many of the domains I buy stay untouched and then I don't renew them!

You don't choose a bank account just because you get a free piggie bank, you make sure the interest and terms are suitable for you first.

Namecheap on the other hand (my registrar of choice) offer .EU registration/renewal for ~£6.40 with free WhoIs Privacy (whcih I make use of).

I'd use the bulk of my domains for Namecheap, but if I had a project that I wanted to try out on an .EU domain then I'd probably pick one up for free instead.

Same way as the bulk of my banking goes through HSBC but I still had a Natwest Student Account for the free rail card!

Quick reminder this domain offer ends today, so make use of it whilst you can.

As usual any questions I'll try and check back a few times over today.
