BBC iPlayer generally only store things online for a week after it has been aired.

Are you sure the free stuff would be available on a wi-fi connection and not a 3G one? I only ask because if it can work on standard home wi-fi, then spoofing the MAC address from an Apple/HTC/Nokia product onto any old network card (And possibly installing Android on the PC/Laptop in question) would be a simple way around whatever detection they're using...And I doubt their content providers would be happy with such a slack approach to security!

Just my thoughts on the subject, mind.

What I was trying to say was that - If the site in question only looks at what OS the user is running and/or the MAC address of their network card to determine whether it's a mobile device or not - Then the system is quite insecure, and probabally not suitable for protecting the content served through it.

In cases like this, a better approach would be the use of an application that uses secure protocols for authentication and serving content to the user.
