Don't take this offer ! It's only free for the first year... and if you decide to continue with your domain, you will pay more than you would pay for 2 years registration with other registrar ... And you can't even transfer your domain without paying some "fee" . My message from other forum:

Quote:
Quote:
If you would like to keep this domain once your initial year has elapsed, you will be able to renew your domain subject to the standard GetDotted.com domain renewal prices. There is, however, no obligation to renew your domain name.
Quote:
Or You may transfer
out Domain Names registered by You to another domain registrar subject to payment of Our published
administration charge
.
I wasn't able to find administration charge... ok, found it, it's £10.00 -almost a SCAM! But it doesn't look good, normal registar doesn't charge you for transferring out your domains... Also, they renewal charge for info is ~ £8 and other registrars offer this for ~ $3

So I don't see anyone using this offer... apart spammers maybe
Not cool!

Well generally when you buy a domain you pay by the year, and it gets renewed, you'd never get given a free website for life.

We haven't had to enter any payment details, so we can't lose money by forgetting to cancel etc.

I don't believe this is a scam at all

Been a while. Sorry for bringing this up if it's a dead subject now.

To reply to the "scammer" post: I'll be blunt. You should not really throw accusations of such nature around. The offer gives customers a FREE domain name registration for one year. You are NOT obligated to renew or transfer your domain at any part of the offer.

Might be a silly question, but what the hell.
Can I upload my own Design to my free .info domain using Freeola?

Ooh my apologies for not answering sooner. Been a busy week, what with doing the Christmas Quiz on the site.

It will depend on what you mean by uploading your own Design. The standard hosting is pretty much "upload what you like". As long as the scripting is correct it will work.

If you are referring to the InstantPro Builder others have mentioned in this thread, then the answer is mixed. The builder uses a set of templates allowing the user to design "around" it, but recent changes have made this much more flexible. There is also nothing stopping you from playing with the html code of the page so you can even get around it that way.

If I have misunderstood let me know.

(Edited because my spelling was terrible)

Here's an example of use of the "instant pro builder" with use of flexability of your own stuff. (I've not had time to use their basic upload your own everything yet.

I had some problems with the freeola hosting thing, so I registered with 000webhost and used this as my hosting. All you have to do is change nameservers on your freeola account, and then you can upload all your files into 000wh.

I'd try the freeola hosting first, but it didn't work for me.

Good Luck

Any idea why it didn't work? We can generally help with any situation, but it appears you have found alternate methods anyway. No comment on the source though

@Panda: Yes of course you can, we have many customers who have used Dreamweaver. Can't say I admire Dreamweaver myself, but it gets the job done. And some people produce pretty good results.

@mj10: A very tidy free InstantPro page there. Nicely done.

I just got fed up to be honest. Looked around for ages trying to find something, and when I did it said I needed a dial up connection that was somehow linked to freeola

Oh well, sorted now, and I am really grateful for your generous free domain offer

Thanks Freeola

What it is I don't like? It might be easier if I ask you what it is you do like about it

When I used it, just couldn't get to grips with it. I used it in school however a few years back so it was an early version. Now I often advise customers when they have built a site. Don't get me wrong, I have seen some impressive sites but getting it uploaded seems needlessly complicated.

Incidentally, have you chose a site for yourself yet?

No, I don't think so - that's why freeola got suspicious when we all registered similar domains within a short space of time
