Free 1 Year Subscribtion to the Microsoft TechNet

Here is a nice little freebie for anyone that might be interested, and before you ask, no you do not have to enter any card information, just your address, so they can't just charge your card after a year!

https://om2.one.microsoft.com/offer/technet_emea.aspx

Have just signed up myself, not 100% sure if this is true or not.. not read the EULA on a product yet myself..

However, they are meant to be used as a trial purpose so think of it as a trial which does not expire and will always work.
If you use it for more than testing then well thats between you and microsoft
Cheers

Here's my subscription status:

It's not showing an expiration date so I think the trial may last more than a year.

Also, it says TechNet Plus Consumer Service Professional Pilot, so I think there may be some limitations with the trial.

As I said, I'm not 100% sure of it.. just letting you know what I read in the OcUK thread about it.. I guess the only way is to wait and see what happens!

In any which case, its free and you have the chance to download a lot of goodies from the site and try them out if nothing else!

Cheers
Tom

A user at OcUK contacted TechNet support and was told this..

Gives a little bit of clarity.. so it looks like the keys wont be accessible after that but if you copy and past them into notepad or similar that shouldn't be a problem!

It is microsoft's online technology warehouse. You can download all the old versions of microsoft software right back to Windows 3.1 and also the new builds of other software is releassed on there. It is really for IT professionals but is a great tool for anybody interested in Windows Based PC's to have

It also includes all the latest white-papers on the newest technologies

The sad thing is that i was about to put in my address and order it, but my laptop turned off (due to a rubbish charger and a "long lasting" battery) and when i turned it on, i got the error and wasn't able to order

Sorry guys but it seems like Microsoft did a bobo!

Apparently new signups have been stopped and those who have accounts should expect them to stop working in 24 hours time.
My account is reset and I can no longer access downloads or generate keys.. Question is if the keys that anyone was able to generate before this will still be working or not..

Sorry for double posting but I thought I would mention that some accounts that had been reset has now been reinstated and my account is now showing as a retail account and valid until 06/02/2001 (US date so 2nd of June 2010), with the ability to download and request keys again. Not everyone seems to have had their account reinstated though, not sure why but might be if they did not provide their actual address or something like that.

Anyway, thought I would let you know for those that were able to get an account earlier, not sure if its for real or just while their lawyers are looking into things since people in the US has not had their account reinstated due to different laws there and over here in the UK..

Cheers
Tom

Edit: now been revoked again so I have not a clue as to what Microsoft is up to!
