GradeGuru - student note sharing

Found this site GradeGuru - note sharing for students while clearing out my bookmarks, can't remember when I found it. It's a note-sharing site for students and as there's a lot of us on exceem trying to get something for nothing thought I'd give it a mention. You get points for uploading lecture notes, essay plans, etc which can be redemed for paypal credit and play.com, argos, STA travel (and more) vouchers. If your notes get used and get good feedback you get more points (I think).

I reckon if I get my lecture notes up by term-time, I can promote it along with my freebie site to all the freshers. Anyway, I could do with an incentive to actually look at my notes right now.

Oh, and there's no points for referring people- I checked before posting.

how much do you have to upload to get anything decent? Say a tenner in your paypal for example?

nice site, its quite tempting to upload all the standard lecture notes although we were warned about the copyright implications of doing something like this, so think im gonna give it a miss

the site does also say "your own lecture notes..."

Yeah. I uploaded a presentation that included a pic off the web and I got a personal reply a week or two later asking for it changed so they definitely check them thoroughly. So it has to be your own stuff.

It works out to a penny a point- paypal credit is in multiples of 500 points. Other vouchers mutliples of 1,000 mostly. I've got 65.3 points for uploading 2 things so far which includes some sort of bonus for starting to upload. But the site's still in beta and not much stuff on. If anyone has loads of stuff of their own ready to just upload it's minimum effort. A couple of notices in my maths department and a mention in my common room newsletter and I'll get loads of people going to my bit to find missed lecture notes, fingers crossed, and that'll mean even more points- don't know exactly how many yet as no-one has seen my (beautiful) work.

If anyone has joined, I'm user 'kebl2825' and I do maths at Oxford.

No way, man.
A mate's doing retakes at leeds now and rang me the night before an exam to help and I still haven't figured out the answer to his question. And I have definitely done his course last year. Scary how much you instantly forget after you last exam... when you're downing your first pint or ten.

Re: GradeGuru - student note sharing

Little bump update on this, if anyone cares. After 7 uploads I've now got the equivalent of about £27. And they've offered me a part-time job as rep at my uni. Which is nice. And on that note, if anyone is planning to join and contribute let me know- I get a commission (if I take the job).

Re: GradeGuru - student note sharing

A book critique (2 sides), a powerpoint for a ~15min presentation, a set of revision notes (16 sides) and 4 sets of my lecture notes (39, 53, 30 & 29 sides). And I've got plenty more on the way.

Re: GradeGuru - student note sharing

8 week terms, 2 or 3 lectures a week usually. The 30 & 29 were the same course, had to split it up. I do maths. So it's not hard to fill space with equations and diagrams and it's only like a side every 15 minutes of lecture. Like I said, I've got LOADS more to be scanned in and uploaded.
