Free Gig Tickets

Here's something for any freebie site creators on this forum about an idea I just had for a new free gift site. I'd make it myself, but I only just learned HTML - I'll get there soon enough - but for now, this wonderful idea is up for grabs!

How about a free gift site that gives away tickets to music gigs and other similar events? I mean obviously, you couldn't buy a load of tickets and offer them specifically, because then if nobody signs up/ orders it before it happens, you'd lose money.

So maybe it could work on a kind of credit system, where users accumulates credits for each green they get, and when they have enough credits for whatever ticket it is that they want, they could order it and it could be purchased by the freebie site through ticketmaster or wherever. The ticket would have to be on sale at the time the user had aquired enough greens, and if it's sold out, they'd have to choose something else at a later date or get more greens for a more expensive ticket.

The freebie site could use info from ticketmaster to advertise what tickets were currently being sold.

After writing all this down it sounds more complicated than I thought it might, but what the hell, I've wrote it now!

So, anybody interested?

Re: Free Gig Tickets

Its a good idea, but the only thing would be that you would have to accumulate greens like you say and build up credits in advance of the tickets to the gig you were wanting to see being put on sale.

I also know that the sites take a couple of days at least to verify and order gifts so if it was a popular band or whatever they might not be able to act quickly enough to get the tickets before they sold out.

But for musicals and most football matches i guess it could work.

Maybe they could verify when you reach certain levels of referrals, for different price brackets, so that your good to go, as soon as they go on sale (or just before)

Re: Free Gig Tickets

I like the idea but I think it would just be too hard to put into practice sadly. If you want tickets to a popular group, these tickets go on sale months before hand so you would have to do an offer, get your referals (remembering that tickets can range from £10 to the ridiculous) and go all through the verifying process before the site would then order tickets, by which time the gig might be sold out.

I think if I was going to a concert I would rather buy the ticket than do an offer then go through all the hassle of trying to get enough referals.

If I might hijack the thread for a moment with another idea (and let's face it, no idea is bad). How about a site offering football season tickets to the lower divisions, bearing in mind the bigger teams may be sold out. Sports freebiejeebies could do that as part of their site.

Also, how about a site offering season passes for the Toussauds group (sp) which allows people to visit Alton Towers among others? About £80 a year so it wouldnt be a lot of refs. The season starts about April so at least sign ups will know when to try for them.

That's why I was saying that it would have to incorporate a system where users had a kind of account where they saved up credits, and then just used them when a gig was coming up
