you walk into a shop and purchase a box without the need of your details.
you take it home and plug it in and done.

Actually if you buy anything capable of receiving TV signals you have to fill in a form with your name and address on it for TV licencing purposes

Tell me about it everytime I buy a TV etc from amazon for people I keep getting letters from the Licence people asking why I have no licence. The g/f has the licence so she has to keep contacting them, lol.

The thread is so old now, I dont even know if these sites still use codes. I'm sure setanta used to use codes but not anymore and as for the "adult" channels...............err, I didnt know there were any

i thought that was only on tv's
i bought a couple from stores like asda and I've done no such thing.
maybe cos i went through the self serve

I have bought 2 freeview boxes and never had to fill out any forms.. both times I went through the till also and not the self serve.. and they are bot receiving TV signals..
