Just ridiculous - and Michael Johnstons clip of him watching the race was classic as well

I reckon 9.64 and below if he hadn't of celebrated, but as the commentator said, it will be much better for him financially if he breaks it by a small margin several times...

Didn't think it would take youtube that long to remove it...

If you didn't see it, you missed a treat, so watch Day 8 Olympic News later tonight with Gabby Logan... I missed Phelps swim so have to watch that later...

Never mind Phelps what about Adlington. 2.10 secs quicker than the world record, 6 seconds quicker than second place and the first British woman to win 2 swimming golds at the same Olympics ever.

I've just seen the 100m final and I've not seen a race like that. The interview with him afterwards was amusing, he wasn't fussed that he had broken the world record, he was just content winning it. He seemed very down to earth for the fastest man on the planet.

Holy Crap! Just watched Phelps swim and blo*dy hell!

He does deserve it though... it just shows his grit and determination - no one else on the earth would have been able to recover with so little to go...

With regards to people complaining about who touched first, obviously Phelps! Its computer recognized, which ain't gonna lie... And if the other person didn't push the sensor hard enough, then he hadn't finished...!

What a Day! Phelps, Rebecca Adlington, Chris Hoy and other cyclists, and Bolt

Usain Bolt is just amazing really. I reckon in the future he could get it into the 9.5's! It's ridiculous how the olympic chiefs said he shouldnt be showboating after he won. He just won the world record for god's sake. It's also fascinating how Bolt wasnt even going to be entered for the 100metres and he was more a 400metre runner before because of his height yet he managed to pull out so many amazing victories out of the bag.
