Love it or hate it, when ever Apple launch a new product it seams to become popular, and a great way to promote your referral links

I think it looks brilliant. I want one. Price doesn't look as hefty as expected either.

I think it looks good and has potential and could be useful... but I stil think you'd get a problem with dirty finger marks all over it, like the iphone but even worse!

But for £300 it's not bad at all! And I can just about get one for free! (or do I stick to the iMac?!)

I thought it looked really bad. But the price has changed my view there. I'm still undecided on whether it will be big tho. It's not something you carry around with you is it?

I reckon it will be usefull for browsing the net etc while in the lounge, reckon its going to take on the mini-laptops and win.

As for being used out and about, I can't see it being that practical

Eitherway whos going to give me one (Its my birthday soon... )

And it's 0.5" thick... that's amazing!!

I would use it at home and uni, in lectures etc (just to look cool!) Definately not something to carry into town! But I can see it killing notebooks.

I would seriously have considered one of these if I could get it for free and it allowed me to do proper work on it. If it had the ability to run FTP clients, be able to do proper work on then yeah I would definitely consider it, but to me it just seems like an oversized iPod touch

Just done a bit of reading on a hands on: Hands On With the Apple iPad - PCWorld

I think the reviewer is being a bit conservative - it will get better over time and this is what I imagine will be the first of a line (iPad ---> iPad 3GS? lol).
A few years later, maybe iPads will be really popular... time will tell.
Either way Apple can still make a desirable product, and that can only be good for the freebie scene.

You can use notes and numbers which is like word and excel. Even the iPod touch has an ftp client, its an app called 'FTP On The Go' and it is really good, so the iPad will also have this.

Just not sure what the market for it would be. Doesn't really seem to have the same functionality as a netbook, nor the portability of a smartphone. Seems to be something in between without any of the plus points is my first thought but lets see.

I preferred the rumour photos where it ran OS X Snow Leopard.
To me, this just looks like a large iPhone. I'd have no use for it whatsoever.

Bit of promoting your group there

Yeah it's very nice, but with no proper office programmes on it, it's pointless for work.

And would you really pay £3-400 for a laptop just for your living room? Well I wouldn't

If it ran snow leapard and had all that functionality then i'd be much more interested. Surely that is possible - do you think that this a deliberate ploy to stop the macbook air from becoming pretty pointless?

Yeah i reckon so. I wouldn't buy a macbook air to be honest as it's an overpriced netbook. As much as i love apple I don't see the point in either of these products.
