Playstation 3

Sony have announced that a upgraded version of their Playstation 3 console will go on sale at the end of August, the only main difference is the 80gb hard drive replacing the old 40gb hard drive.

The retail price will remain the same, as would the number of referrals needed on the free gift sites. Nearly all of the free gift sites have announced they will now be sending out the new 80gb consoles, though of course you will have to wait until the end of August.

A quick check of Amazon suggests they still have pre-order stock available, so hopefully that will mean that there will be no stock delays. Sony PLAYSTATION 3 Console (80 GB Model)

I heard that it comes with a new type of controller? or is that the same controller the others come with?

Re: Playstation 3

does anyone know if their going to stop doing the 40Gb ones, because on sonys website i can't find anything about the new one.

Also you would of thought they would have put 2 more USB ports on as the TV for it plugs into the USB and say you had a card reader as well, then thats all the USB's used.

Its the new duel shock

Re: Playstation 3

I would assume so, the difference between a 40gb hard drive and 80gb hard drive is a matter of a few £ at the most, so I cant see them producing both.

Re: Playstation 3

Sony can't seem to make their minds up about what size of hard-drive to include. We've had 60gig, then 40gig and now 80gig... any advance on 80?

Re: Playstation 3

It has to be some form of marketing statement, looking at Hard Drives - 3.5" SATA Drives - Ebuyer - 80gb is £22 ish, 160gb is £25 ish for the lower end drives, if they start a video service 80gb wont last that much
