apparently the new 3g phone will only be available instore and you will need to take the contract out there and then. o2 are meant to be setting up booths in apple stores to deal with this.

so no more web ordering = no more freebies!?

Yeh, but methinks that on PAYG, the iphone will probably end up being £3.7M

ohh yeah! im guessing that the prices will stay around the same price as they was for the 1st gen iphone and be offered a lot cheaper on contract. Even then if apple are not selling them direct from there own web site then freebie sites will still not be able to get them.

I think he probably meant the minimum anyone has to pay won't be over $199. Otherwise, there is absolutely no point bundling it with the 2 year, £30 or whatever contracts. I mean for the texts and minutes you get for the iphone contract are rubbish as compared to similar offers from O2 for other phones.

It's true about the in-store activation. Not sure about P&G though.

Re: New version of the iPhone announced

What about if you buy your iphone from the Apple website?

Will you still have to activate it via iTunes.

Re: New version of the iPhone announced

ok i've been down O2 shop and got details:

if you are a new customer, you can buy instore.

You must sign the contract instore, no taking it home and using itunes.

if you are upgrading from old iphone, you can only do it online!!

however, you will be able to order one 2 days before, so it arrives on launch day.

your old iphone can be converted to a PAYG iphone.

The shop is opening at 7:02am friday morning.
