Change in trading policy

Due to the large number of zero post members, who then go on to scam on trades, new members with zero posts will now no longer be able to use the trades system.

To use the trades system the following requirements must all be met
  • Users must join eXceem with a valid email address and have clicked on the verification link
  • Users must have at least 5 posts
  • Users must be registered for at least 5 days
  • Users must not make attempts to trade before they have access to the trades system
While some of you may not be happy about this, I am sure you can understand why the changes have been made. 90% of recent trade scammers have all had zero posts.

Re: Change in trading policy

Hi Jon

I appreciate the changes that you have made and am willing to wait for the required 5 days.

I organised 2 trades yesterday, using the trade system, but have agreed to complete the offer for the other users first. I can't get into the trade system now to access their links, which is a bit frustrating.

I don't mean to moan, I'm just really looking forward to getting my first referrals!

As per eXceems Trading rules, both trading partners should do their offer at the same time. Did they ask you to sign up first or did you offer to do it?

Cheers
Tom

One user asked me if I would complete first as it will be my first trade. I offered to complete first for the other one as I don't want anybody thinking I'm a scammer.

Re: Change in trading policy

Hi
I've also been locked out of the trades section, (I presume) as I don't have enough posts. A bit frustrating, as I certainly wasn't ripping anyone off and have already completed 2 trades and got 2 positive ratings. I understand why you are doing this, though. If there are any other problems with my trades, please let me know as I am still learning (though I read the rules thoroughly)

Re: Change in trading policy

ok, theoretically I should now fulfil the criteria (5 posts, signed up on 5th June, account verified through email link) to allow me to go on the trades section but i still cannot access, is there something else not listed there that i should do?

hey no rush, i was just wondering, thanks for the manual update, i don't mean to pressure anyone at all. Personally it is a good change just an inconvenience for those who are caught up in active trades already

Re: Change in trading policy

I do see the point about the inconvenience, but at most people affected would have to wait 4 days.

Plus it gets more people posting in the forums, which is good for everyone

I didn't know that, I've been asking people with no feedback to go first recently. If this is the case there is no way I'm guna trade with anyone that has anything less than 5 or so feedback! So basically that means no more trading for me!! Please make an exception to this rule for those with higher feedback and more posts or something!

One request that I think everyone would appreciate - can a PM be sent to both traders when a post is made, rather than just the person who created the trade thread? Should get things moving quicker, and prevents the need for any PM reminders from users - which leads to some 'invisible' discussion.

Re: Change in trading policy

Yay, I'm happy with this new rule. I've just had someone with no feedback, no posts and with a remarkably similar referral link to the last scammer asking me to trade. I've basically told him what this new rule states, so I'm glad this is now an official condition for traders.

Here's to the genuine ones among us.

Re: Change in trading policy

Since this is becoming official, and permanent, it should be clearer on the main page than just a news item. Even though I have 7 positive feedback, I only have 1 post before this, so I'm locked out of the trade section. The error from being locked out doesn't give you a clue why, took me a while to figure it out, so for the benefit of other users the error messages should be updated to reflect the changes.

I fear we'll lose potential genuine traders out of frustration otherwise.

i'll give you a example of why we say go green at the same time, this week a member joined exceem and went to post a trade. The member then loged out, registered again, then responded to that trade. The original member then loged in and said ok lets do it etc. Then he created a new trade. Then that member loged out. Then he went and registered a 3rd account. You can guess the rest... 2 days later he had a false feedback rating of 2, and then went on to create trades were he demanded that people with feedback less than him went green first (luckally I caught him in the act after I had a scan of the server logs and was able to limit his scamming)

I do agree with you point, I think I will have to come up with some system were established forum members and traders can say "can you go green first"

That is being addressed, when I finish sorting the update to the trades which should all going to plan be one weekend in June, once a trade has been agreed updates will go to both members involved in the trade - as well as being private so only the traders (and mods) can view whats said.

I wish I didn't have to bring in restrictions to trading, but its the small number of people who abuse/scam that spoil it for the majority and I do hope it creates a safer area to trade in.

That's fair enough, hadn't thought about false feedback. When can we expect this new system?

Re: Change in trading policy

Hi all,

Am reletively new to this site as you can probably see and one of the first things I did was trade with Mica.

As in his previous statements I have as a "newbie" gone green for him and now been locked out of the trade system halfway through the trade and cannot get my referral link to him to complete the trade.

Whilst I appreciate the need to remove scammers from this site, how am I going to get people to trade with me having such a low score.

Point of fact I am only registered to 2 sites meaning I currently have a vast opportunity to get people greens.

How will people acknowledge me to be genuine?

How will I get my referral link to Mica?

What about a reccomendation system that when anybody with high positive feedback completes a trade with someone with low or zero feedback, can post a comment on that new users feedback as sort of an endorsement or something?

Ah it all makes sense now! Hadn't thought about you being locked out, thought I got lucky and you didn't want a green back!

My email is mica_999@hotmail.com, like arctic said, email it to me and I'll get on it.

how about making a financial deposit before trading so if someone is found out to be scamming then at least the other party gets some compensation!
