ebay

As you can all probably see, recent threads promoting the breaking of ebay's rules by whatever means have been closed!

Those of you who do ebay auctions know that there have been a clampdown on the type of auctions that last the course, and those that are ended early!

Just as an example, doing a search on yahoo this morning provided me with three exceem threads all promoting the breaking of ebay's terms and conditions, as well as Google nicely providing me with plenty of guides on how to get xbox's, ps3's, wii's, all of free of course, with some muppets even generously providing links to exceem as proof!

As I said in another thread all it takes is someone to have a link in their advert to their website, which also has a link to exceem, then for a potential bidder to visit exceem, (as people do judging by the number of newbies recently) and decide he/she doesn't like what he sees and report us to ebay!

It might seem far fetched, but stranger things have happened and it could result in the closing of the site! Rather than having this happen, we will be taking action to close/delete all threads concerning such methods over time, although this will take a while judging by the number of threads I've found by doing a search on here!

It would help though if people could refrain from making any new threads regarding ebay though please!

Also, we will clamp down on anyone who does persist in making threads regarding ebay!

Cheers

not exactly sure why you bumped a thread after 15 or so months and not exactly sure what your question has to do with the subject i.e. ebay

Re: ebay

i bumped it cos i saw the thread and read it and saw something that i wanted to ask a question about, if you read it you will actually see that what i asked does have some relevance to what it says. Besides i dont spend my time looking at the last time a thread was written on. didn't realise asking a question would bother people so much.

I must be thick then because i see no mention of anything to do with ebay in your bumped post.

You bump posts and people like me (thicko's) assume that there are new threads created, not old ones.

Yes but when you are looking through Spy or on the home page at the list of recent posts on the side it looks like a new thread/post.

Just because it is a sticky does not mean you should ask questions that have nothing to do with the subject matter.

You can put links to eXceem in your website, so long as your website doesnt encourage offer scamming, or tell out right lies.

This thread is about ebay listings, which is a different matter, and I can see how you have upset other members by bringing up such a old topic.

Thumbs down

Re: ebay

I'm with nmase on this one Admin.... If a sticky thread is there, us noobs are meant to read these, right? to make sure we dont piss anyone off, right? So when we do, but don't quite understand it, we ask questions, on the thread that has raised our querying mind.
Instead of getting an answer tho we get "others", who have a go , bemoaning noobs being allowed onto their hallowed FREE 42"lcd monitor. Also nmases comment was reasonably linked to the topic that mentioned about not wanting exceems name in websites that are advertised on ebay. Nmase, i think, was making sure there wasn't a rule stating he would be banned just for adding the link to his non-ebay website.

Frankly the attitude of some members make this site occasionally feel less "we're here to help each other" and more like- we're here & have been longer than you so *%!? off
Nmase aint wrong about the welcome.

Just my opinion mind, I think we should all have one & look forward to others disagreeing. I do wonder if any other noobs have issues with more experienced members manners & vice versa - meanwhilse Admin, you role, IMHO, is meant to be supportive AND directive, not just handing out warnings & bans.

Re: ebay

gnore what? I am talking generally, hence why i used the generic - Admin & other members - the attitude of some on these forums is poor & noobs are practically flamed for reading old & important posts/threads & daring to ask questions. I say all this just because I have been on the recieving end of this after just 5 days membership.

Re: ebay

sorry i didn't mean to ignore what you were saying completely i meant it as if "im just going to pick up on one of the points he's made"

I'm sorry you feel unwelcome, and i think quite the opposite is true "Admin & other members" constantly remind and encourage new members to read old posts and even to ask questions when they are unsure of something. I think where this fails is when members reply to a topic with a question that is yes slightly relevant but is an old topic and an extremely sensitive one, so should be asked in another thread.

as i say i don't think its anyones intention to make members feel flamed and that the comments made on their posts should be taken as if a lesson on what to next time
