Re: ebay

With regards to posting of links, it says it all here - Posting Links On Exceem
Quote:
When you link to a personal website, business, blog, or any other site via the webpage facility in your profile or by linking to it on the forums (intresting websites etc) please place a link back to exceem before you post your link.
In short anyone can post a link to eXceem, if you want to use some of eXceems content or images you need to ask permission, as you would for any website. eXceem also allow you to have a link to your site in your forum signiture, providing there is a link back to eXceem on your site (fairs fair)

Quote:
I think where this fails is when members reply to a topic with a question that is yes slightly relevant but is an old topic and an extremely sensitive one, so should be asked in another thread.
Quote:
but if were new how do we know its sensitive, and everyone goes on about how old it is yet it is a sticky. can we just end this here please, i shouldnt have posted it here fair enough. i shall tread lighter next time, or possibly not at all.
You're both right and wrong and whatever I say will end up with someone not being pleased!

General net etiquette does suggest to not bump threads that are over 6 months old, but that seems to be something that has just been considered the norm across a number of forums.

You wont also see the number of "first posts" by newbies just simply posting their referral link then not coming back - these have been deleted and that is why there is a bit of a "bitterness towards newbies" - though I would label such people spammers than newbies.
With regards to me just handing out warnings and bans, thats not true - looking at my log the only warnings I have given out have been to members posting referral links (which there is a banner warning you about just after you join eXceem) and clear cut breaches of eXceems rules.

anyway lets draw a line under this.

Re: ebay

As some of you may know. I work for eBay in Dublin, Ireland. And i can confirm this is not permitted. I sit next to the fraud team and you wouldnt believe the amount of "Police Users" on the site.

The big PowerSellers police the site often for eBay to clear out the rubbish so their items get maximum exposure.

Be warned.

The top users within eBay who are paying £20k+ a month in eBay fees often Police the site. i.e. spend time searching the site and reporting bogus auctions.

An iPod distributor on eBay will want a clear run when people search for iPods so their iPods get exposure. Not have "Get an iPod Free" auctions coming up in the searches.

Capiche?

Re: ebay

Good idea IMO, they're are loads of 'get an xbox free' on ebay at the moment.

But then again people are always selling 'links' on ebay?

Re: ebay

A while back i discovered a genius way of using ebay for it.

I was listing it under local services.
This meant it was free
and the listing stayed up for a month
I thought it was allowed because i was doing it for about 3-4 months without getting them removed.
See they still come up in normal searches, means people will see it, but they will also see all the other normal listings.
Anyway, long story short the listings were eventually removed which gave me my answer id been pondering, is this allowed?
only got about 6/7 greens out of it anyway so not worth it.

Anyway i know that might seem a bit random but just thought, since we're chatting about the ebay no-nos would share my experience with the bay.

Re: ebay

yea. ebay has really gotten a lot stricter. I am not a big fan of their new policies. I think they have gotten new management and that is why the rules have become more strict.
