Heads Up - General Updates to MFGN

Guys,

We hate doing this but we have been left with no choice.

We are going to be updating our T&C's at the end of the month to include the following:

The age limit for joining our sites will be increased from 16 to 18.

Automatic URL forwarding / URL Masking / Framing of our sites is now banned. This includes using free services or your own domain names to point to your referral links. Only our full URL referral links will now be allowed. Eg: http://site.myfreegadget.co.uk/index.php?referral=123

Advertising the cancellation of offers, or any encouragement or direction to cancel offers is now prohibited. This includes providing details on minimum terms, phone numbers to call to cancel, email address to cancel etc etc. The terms of the offer are clearly stated on our site to prevent confusion for our users.

Walkthroughs / signups on behalf of others / Using other peoples info are now clearly prohibited. This includes talking a user through using messenger type programs such as MSN and AOL.

Use of Auction and classified type sites is now banned as your primary use of advertising your referral link.

Using a proxy to mask IP address is banned. We are away some ISPs use proxies and this has been accounted for.

If any of the above are not followed you will be banned from all of our sites and not just the site in question. If you have any questions relating to this, please visit : http://support.myfreegadget.co.uk/ and raise a support ticket.

We would also recommended you add the following email addresses to your address book to ensure you receive important automatic emails sent via our system, including registration, offer completed, order detail emails.

admin@myfreegadget.co.uk
admin@myfreegadgetnetwork.co.uk
no-reply@myfreegadgetnetwork.co.uk

You are free to subscribe/unsubscribe to our mailing lists at any time on your account page.

These email addresses are not managed and you must use our support system to contact us.

Can you please advise those that are already signed up but are under 18 what this will mean to them. Will they be safe if they have already signed up?

Those under 18 but over 16 that have already joined the site will not see any effect to their account as long as they stick to our T&C's.

Those under 16 (This has been in place almost since we started) are having accounts put on hold. We never actively did this in the past as the sign ups under 16 were very low.

sorry to sound dumb but the url forwarding term that means that I can't for example have www.mattflower.co.uk pointing to my ref right?
Can I be thick and ask why this is or is it a touchy subject?

Yeah thats what it means, I wondered that too, the only reason I can think of is so that people know they are being referred to the site by someone.

@mattflower - Yes it does mean using a domain to point to your referral link will not be allowed. However there is nothing stopping you pointing your name to a website with a link to ours on it.
