Haha nice, that's what mums are for.

Lake louise looks really nice, we're thinking of maybe goin over for christmas this year, but it's my girlfriends 21st around that time so I'll have to be really nice to her for a bit if I've got any chance of escaping for it.

Last year I started goin to xscape a fair bit then got cocky and went for an over ambitious jump which put a quick stop to my snowboarding for quite a while and I've only gone once since.

You must've noticed a huge improvement in your boarding over a season?

That's a good idea, I was gonna suggest a pint at some point. They've got a good deal on at xscape over summer, can't recall what it is atm.

    (I wrote an essay too)

congrats on the job! You looking forward to staring? Haha I know that feeling! there's nothing worse than a job you hate.

Nah I never joined, I've always had the intention but just never have time for any of that stuff in uni. Also the friend I've been goin away with the last few years is in Edinburgh so I'd probs not have made it on the uni trips.

Oh dear, not a good year for your friend to be looking for work in Civil Engineering, he manage to get a job?

Halcrow designed the squinty bridge and the falkirk wheel if that helps? Probs still wouldn't have heard their name if you're not involved in the industry tho.

It was a big change, Largs is only a 40 min drive so it's not too far away. Still close enough for my mum to come up and do my washing but far enough away to have some space. I spent a lot of time in Glasgow anyway for gigs and stuff so I knew it pretty well.

I was mostly at one resort - Lake Louise. I had a season pass there and worked close by. Managed to visit a few other resorts tho which was good, being in the middle of the Rockies there are plenty close by! Do you go to xscape often? Perhaps we should have some eXceem sponsored shred time!

I was the same, working part time during term and full time during summer. It sucked! But it seems to have gone in my favour, I got that new job which is nice! One of the reasons was because I had worked while I was at uni, and it was the same company. I start a week tomorrow - handed my notice in at my old place but hated it so much I didn't go back!

I tried skiing a few times when I was younger but got into boarding at uni, was in the ski/snowboard club - did you ever join? Went to Les Arcs with them in first year, pure carnage. All the uni's were at the same resort - it was mad. How was Tignes?

Never heard of them...but it's definitely good to get work experience with a relevant company these days - just a degree wont hack it! My friend just finished civil engineering at Strathclyde...we like to laugh at him for going to a polytechnic!

(this turned into an essay - so carried on in next post)

    Haha well said!

Ye I know the feeling about having no fun, during term nobody in my course even really has time to work part time, a few did in 1st and 2nd year, but I don't think anyone did in 3rd. So I try to make the most of holidays (even though I need to work full time).

Ye, I snowboard. Used to ski, but boarding's more fun. Was in Tignes in March for a week with a friend.

I'm working for Halcrow, it's a civil engineering company, I'm in the highways department. It's not bad, good pay, good experience and flexitime always helps.

I know how you feel, can't believe how quickly uni's flown in, my 1st day still seems so recent and now I'm not far off graduation

Must've been quite a change from largs to glasgow?

Ye I've lived in glasgow all my life, would've probs moved elsewhere for uni if it wasn't for the girlfriend etc, pretty glad I stayed now tho.

Sounds like a good break, did you spend most of it at 1 resort or move about?

I'll be going back to Glasgow..is there any other?

I don't know if they do, if I get the job I'll stick it and see if they can offer me something part time in Sept. If not I'll probably see about going back to O2.

Do you snowboard/ski? I didn't get the chance to have much fun at uni as I was working part time for the 4 years, so it was good to get away. Managed to see a bit of the country too and see a few friends, was good fun

What are you doing over there? My best mate used to live in a flat that looks right onto the train station.

I'm from Largs originally, moved up to glasgow about 6 years ago for uni...scary to think how long ago that was. Makes me feel old How about you?

Good call if you couldn't progress, which uni? I'm just about to go into 4th year of civil engineering at glasgow in september.

Gamma telecom offer part time work while you're at uni, or is it just for the summer?

I'd love to go off for a season somewhere, especially after 3 and a half years in the same job, it'd be such a good break.

Oh kl so not that far then, good place to be if working in town aswell. I'm workin over at alexandra parade for the summer so need to travel across the city every day, total pain.

    You from Glasgow originally?

Yeah, Canada was awesome fun! I've considered it...but it's a bit out the way and doesn't pay too well. I'm going back to uni in Sept to I'll be looking for something part time then.

O2 was at Skypark yeah - was there for about 3 and a half years. Quite a while...it was good money and a nice place, but I had just been there so long and there was no chance of progression at all! Hence I left, buggered off to Canada and decided I want to go back to uni and do a comp science degree

I live at Charing Cross, just by the Mitchell Library

A season in canada, nice. Ever consider a job at Xscape or something?

    I'm from hyndland, you?

That good that you're hopefully getting somethin else, there's nothing worse than being stuck in a job you hate. One summer I was in a cash sorting place, you just cut open a bag of money and poured it into another bag.

O2, was that at skypark? Heard it's a pretty good place to work. Never heard of Gamma, if they're pretty unheard of then there hopefully wont be too much competition.

It totally is man! I was working for O2, had been for about 3.5 years while I was at uni and stuff...quit to spend a season snowboarding in Canada...came back and there's no work at all! It took me ages to get the job I'm in at the moment (Student Loans Company). I'm paid £6 an hour to sit in a room with no windows and deal with complete and utter idiots. It's embarrassing!

I've went for a job with Gamma Telecom - hadn't heard of them before but they're a telecoms company aimed towards small/medium business. Just in a support role for a new product they're releasing. It sounds pretty good

Where abouts in Glasgow you from?
