The BAFTAs

Anyone else watch it? I only saw the 2nd half but was very pleased to see Martin Scorsese pick up the fellowship award. Such an inspiration and has had such an impact on cinema! I don't think anyone can say they've not seen at least one film directed by or staring him!

The Artist was the big winner of the night.

I've given up watching all kinds of these awards ceremonies. At the end of the day these people chose acting, singing or directing or whatever it is they do as their job/career.

I don't understand the need to pat these people on the back every other month or hand out awards to them for doing what is at the end of the day their chosen job!

Yea, I'd see it as their versions of a bonus or employee of the month as well... although these are actors, it's going to be dramatic!!

From a pleb point of view you can also see if your favourite actors get an award for that film you loved, or you can use it to see which films you probably should go back and watch!

It's like any profession, you get awarded for producing good work, graphics, acting or just being a general business man.

But az87aris has a point.. Why display it on National TV? I know that MJ10 once received Employee of the Month award, but still I don't remember him saying that he was on TV for that.. Why put the film industry on top of other professions?

Actors work on TV, therefore their awards are presented on TV.

I won Presales Employee of the Quarter and my award was given to me at a quarterly meeting attended by the whole company.

I recently went to the Thames Valley Business Awards where our company won an award and was presented it in front of all the other Thames Valley Businesses (as was the rest of the awards that night).

Get my point?! You receive the recognition in the environment of your industry.
