eXceem app?

So it seems a large majority of the eXceem population has an iDevice of some sort. And for those who don't, more than likely have an Android device of some sort.

Has anybody thought about making an eXceem app for iOS and Android OS? I think it'd be kind of cool, what do you think? There are lots of other forums that have an app for their forum too.

It's a good idea, but I think that there is an application called Taptalk or something like that which is a forum viewing app for multiple websites which support it.

It would be cool.. But that would mean someone purchasing a developers account.. not sure how much they are but think they're 3 figure.. And someone with knowledge of programming them? Stick to mobile web browser's :P

apple developer accounts are only £60 a year and for android I think it is free

It's not quite the same. But someone (not sure who) made a widget for eXceem IGMFI.

am not sure what an App would have to offer to a forum that has so few members and contributors these days that you can't get on your mobile internet already.

Maybe if things picked up it would be worth looking into but i don't think it would be a great benefit at the moment.

I don't know whether it's just a coincidence but the last few nights I have noticed more people commenting etc. Especially tonight. For the last few months, if I left the computer for 2-3 hours when I checked eXceem there would be 30-40 unread posts. Tonight I came back to 100+. Hopefully things start improving again. But like people have said before, things will only improve on here when sign ups/conversions start improving

Its only the same people getting their post counts up, lol. I just wondered what benefit an App would have.

Could be an ongoing project though.
Does it really matter how many people use it ?

If it was developed it could be rolled out to eXtra users as beta and just constantly be improved until it was in its final state.

Maybe better to have it done and ready than need it and have to wait in the future.

Not necessary, more of a toy to play with

only benefit i can think of, is there will be more users on exceem, let me rephrase that, more people singed up to exceem....

I agree with Cruelworld. If it's actually an option, as in someone is willing to build the app, then why not go for it? It might even make more people start posting as it'd be a lot easier to comment etc.
As Cruel said though, it isn't a necessity it would just be nice to have

I developed an app once, a VERY noob app in Flash that I ported onto my iPod (needs a jailbreak for it to work). I don't know how to go about creating an app that would connect to a website.

Hmm.. I'm learning development for Android (since it's free), but there's still a long way to go before I learn to implement networking in my apps..
