My MacBook Pro Genius Bar Experience...


Okay.. Genius Bar from Apple is an absolutely amazing service when you have an AppleCare warranty on something..

I have used it 3 times on my iPhone 4(s) and each one was replaced without question...

I had a 2006 white MacBook back in the day which is unfortunately no more :'( So decided to spend a bit of money on eBay (£760 for the nosey ones) and buy a MacBook Pro second hand.

Everything was fine until it decided it would stop connecting to most wireless networks... Airport would turn off itself and refuse to turn back on.. So after a trip to the Apple store 35 miles away in Exeter princesshay, they decided to replace the Airport card which would take 24 hours.. So i went this afternoon to collect it.

Got back to the car... opened it up.. WALAA!! Wifi.. No connections in the multi storey car park but still it worked... Got it home eager to use my wireless.... and..... Same problem...

Now I have to go BACK to the Apple Store and go OI still doesn't work ... Not sure what next steps are because he tried it Saturday in the shop and it worked fine but diagnosics and stuff he did said some sort of connection was bad in the Airport card.. :/

What wireless networks have you tried it in? You should of bought it brand new, you could of got for not much more.

It was the 1TB HDD that sold it for me haha..

Mine, Parents, In-Law's, Sisters... Strangely though worked in McDonalds and ironically the AppleShop -_-

Not sure what the problem is, can only recommend calling them up and they may refer you to an authorised apple fixer (like they did me) which may be closer.

That might be an idea.. To be fair.. I might just go back to the genius bar and kick up a bit of a stink :P :P My mate did something similar with his MacMini.. Had it replaced

I thought apple just replace it. ive had cousins in america who have problems with their macs and the apple stores just replace them.

They tried to repair mine, which they did, free of charge. You may need for it to still be in warranty however.

You should be fine then, if it's faulty and they can't repair then they will give you a new one.

nah even then, my cousin in america got it replaced on the spot without them repairing his products. I dont know if its because he goes to his local apple store every 4-5 months (he buys all the apple crap) so they do it for him. not sure.
