| Romper Stomper | Ok ... Shot 1... I see (or have) a contract on a normal sim where the same amount of minutes.data sms etc are much more expensive on an iphone micro sim. Can I use a cut down sim in an iPhone and keep the cheaper contract price ?

| Romper Stomper | On T-Mobile you can go to the shop and buy a genuine micro sim (£10) and right there at the counter they will transfer your account over to your new sim. The transfer is instant, no messing and you just carry on with your original account. Maybe Orange do the same ? The young lady behind the counter gave me a REALLY funny look when she saw my account details with 100% monthly line rental discount though :P

| What to put... | Well my friend has been to orange and she was told that she needed to be transfered to a contract the costs £37/month!? All she needs is a new sim with her number on it, i thought the same as you, you just has to pay £15 for one but apparently not! She also rang up and the person said another thing. I recommended cutting it down to size but there is the worry of messing it up so i said to buy a sim cutter that would do it for you, that might be the only option.

| Romper Stomper | Be careful of what type of sim it is that you are cutting down. The one I had had a huge chip on it that would have had some of it cut off by the sim cutter to make it fit. LOADS of youtube vids said that this little bit that got cut off didn't matter but I just wasn't confident in it so went on the safe side and bought the micro sim. They had no problem at all though with moving my account over.

| What to put... | Yea, need to make sure not to cut down the chip or pins but if i can just use an existing microsim from a friends phone and compare it and see if it would be a problem.

| Romper Stomper | Apparently it's only the center 3 sections of the chip that matter. When viewed so the chip is top left you see 5 horizontal sections split into whatever parts, it's just the center 3 (horizontal) that matter. As long as they land in the right place all will be gravy. This is not my theory, just what I found on the good old interweb. This is why I said **** it, and bought one :P

![]() ![]() | The two outer sections dont seem to matter, cut my own sim with a scissor, had to cut the outer section, it works as normal. And just today, well yesterday, used a micro sim cutter on a t-mobile sim. Cuts off some of the metal part of one of the outer sections. Worked as normal. |

| free-gadgets.co.nr | 37 quids is way too much. It costs only Rs. 19, i.e. 25 pence for getting a new SIM or a microSIM or transferring to a new network with the same number...

| Romper Stomper | Were you one of the lucky few that got that cockup contract? Can't remember. Yeah, I went into the shop though but it doesn't really matter. I can handle £10 for the deal I got Didn't want to rock the boat asking for a free micro sim as well :P

They did charge me for the first months bill though which I still haven't got back! How have you found the 3G on your iphone? Mine is painfully slow and when it's not slow its not working at all!

The only charges i've had are from accidentally dialing voicemail and a picture message, but they also slapped a £2.50 billing charge on there as well but I ain't complaining. I've disabled the voicemail button now anyway, never use it. Anyway... Can anyone answer Ryan's OP question

![]() | Go buy a microsim and try orange.co.uk/simswap and swap your account to the new sim. You need to login to YourAccount.
