Give a little back...

The forum popped up in an unrelated Google, and made me all nostalgic. I feel like I owe a lot to the forum, I used referral marketing as a baby step to the world of internet marketing. I dropped out of uni last year as it wasn't right for me, and I am currently saving for a campervan.

I am not earning a mint from internet marketing, but it is keeping me ticking over and allowing me to gradually increase my savings.

This will mainly help any newbies, but it is they that need the help.

Throw at me any questions related to SEO, internet marketing, ranking, Google, keywords, websites, backlinking etc etc.

I will answer any as best I can in this thread, to help others out. I don't have gallons of spare time, but I'd like to give something back.

Please take into account I am not Google, nor am I God, or Jesus, or Chuck Norris. I do not, therefore, have the definitive answer to everything. I simply have what I consider to be a fair amount of experience.

Also, you just lost the game.

So go ahead, ask me questions!

How am I making money at the moment:
-Selling small AdSense sites I create
-Owning small AdSense sites
-Doing freelance writing
-Selling SEO services

How much money? My ins would probably just about pay rent and basic living costs at the moment.

I have a lot of outgoings currently as I am in the process of buying established websites and spending money on shiny new software etc that I don't need. I am also spending a lot of my time learning.

Over the past month and the coming months I intend to get more involved with:
-Selling SEO services (these will mainly be outsourced)
-Selling larger website packages
-Working on building a number of newsletter lists

I get most of my clients from freelancing websites, forums, or eBay.

I am still very lazy. I am tempted to hire someone to kick me every time I procrastinate. I am also a perfectionist. I am gradually learning that I shouldn't spend weeks waiting until I feel I can do something to perfection, I should put out something mediocre and then alter it.

My overall long term goal is for the following:
-Own a SEO services website. All work outsourced.
-Own a website provider service website. All work outsourced.
-Own a portfolio of websites that make money via Clickbank, Amazon, AdSense

I would also make use of an outsourced Virtual Assistant and an outsourced Customer Service staff member.

This is what I am striving for at the moment. Each day I would have three or four hours of work.

Can I also add that I've got to this stage with zero funding. If I need money, I write for people. I really don't enjoy writing, but it allows me to keep everything on the laptop.

It means that when I get my campervan, I'll be able to carry on with work anywhere there is an internet connection.

Also, if you are reading this, when you have work you know you want to do, close the site!

My cliché generic advice to anyone that feels like they are struggling is: You are in the LOUNGE section of a forum. Imagine 24/7 that you have a boss standing behind you. He would kick your ass. Once you have done work for 3 hours, or 4 hours, take a short break. Imagine your boss saying "You did a good job, take a break.". If your pretend boss is refusing to say that, get of your ass and do some more work. If it helps, imagine your pretend boss with a gun or a sharp stick.

Got that whiny voice in your head saying "B..b..but I don't know what to dooooo." PM me with a link to your website. I will tell you a) how to make it better, b) how to rank it better, or c) to concentrate on something that isn't your website.

Not got a website? Why not ask me "What is the best way for me to make a website, with only the knowledge of x, y and z."

Every single one of you that has the drive and motivation to be registered to this site and reading this post has the ability to succeed if they try.

Sounds great.

What software have you bought?
How are you doing keyword research for your Adsense sites?
Are you selling before they're earning/ranking?

My response to MJ10, mainly with regard to improving ranking.

Since Panda, Google is even bigger on content. Have you thought about adding a blog to the site? This will keep the site fresh, and help gradually add more and more content.

Link diversity is important. In terms of getting backlinks, my focus would be the following:

-Contextual backlinks

Here are a couple of fiverr gigs:

I will rewrite your article and submit it to Seo Linkvine and My Article Network for $5 on fiverr.com

I will submit your article to my uaw unique article wizard and man my article network account and get QUALITY backlinks for $5 on fiverr.com

I will spin and submit Article to over 1200 Article Directories, article submission for $5 on fiverr.com

These are the most relevant links that are easy to get hold of for us little guys. You will need to write an article and then provide your link. This would be my first step in terms of backlinking for any site.

I'll wait at least two weeks until any more backlinking on a new site. Then I might use the following:

-Social Bookmarking

I will submit your site to 200 to 300 Powerful social bookmarking sites creating backlinks plus create RSS Feeds, ping, Guarantee it will be sp for $5 on fiverr.com

-Microblog Links

I will get you 200 to 300 micro backlinks they start showing the SamE day, These back links are great for Seo and Search engine ranking org com net for $5 on fiverr.com

-Edu Links

I will get you 140 EDU backlinks from edu blogs edu backlinks done in 24 hours or your edu backlinks are free for $5 on fiverr.com

Then I might look for some odd bits and pieces to add to the link diversity:

-Yahoo Answers

I will answer 10 yahoo answers questions using your link with 1 best answer guaranteed for $5 on fiverr.com

Now you have a diverse link profile, it's time to bulk up with the more spammy backlinks:

I will build eminent backlink pyramid with 5000 high pr profiles, links are all from different domains and 90 percent are dofollow for $5 on fiverr.com

I will build a LINKWHEEL with 6 High pr Blog Manually And Then Create 3000 Backlinks On Them Dominate The First Page Of Any Search Engine for $5 on fiverr.com

I will create link wheel of 10 web 20 property sites and then ping, bookmark to top Social Bookmarking sites and also generate RSS Feed for $5 on fiverr.com

If the search term is highly competitive, I would spend between £20-100 (do it over time if this is a lot in one go) on permanent links from high PR pages. I find these links mainly on eBay, and I haven't used them much. I have too many websites at the moment to spend the money on high PR page links, but over time I will pick and choose the sites I feel will be worth spending this money on.

Improving sign ups is a whole separate ball game. My main conversion improvement work has been on getting more AdSense clicks, but I could suggest offering up some sort of freebie like a free guide in return for an email address.

Then send out useful information once a week to your sign ups, and get them involved. You shouldn't have to do much "hard selling" if you can get a sign up involved and motivated, just hint to them to get their offer completed.

Feel free to ask me about anything I've said above. I haven't used most of those fiverr sellers but they all have solid feedback. I tend to outsource most of my offpage so I can concentrate my time on the onpage stuff.

I have bought Market Samurai, and I use this for my keyword research.

I spend a lot of time manually looking at the first page of a keyword before I decide to use it.

I also use SpyFu and #1 Keyword Software & Keyword Tool for Keyword Research & Tracking to check how profitable the keyword might be.

I only ever sell a service to create a site from scratch. If I had a site that was already earning/ranking I would keep it. It is mainly to give me extra cash with which to work on other projects.

I am moving towards larger sites, as Google is only going to start hating on small sites more and more.

With regards to eBay being a good place to sell services, you are correct. You could probably do fairly well reselling Fiverr gigs on eBay.

Edit: I'll be back tomorrow. Feel free to ask questions here or by PM. Any useful information I provide I will add to this thread. If I have loads to reply to then please be patient, as I will get round to it all!

I have SpinChimp and AMR and yet I still find my article success is slim, even with a very good Copyscape score.....

Perhaps I need better keyword research or a better niche..... I have just found a really good Amazon niche, but need to look at some of the commercial amazon site builders which spin the descriptions

Are you trying to rank for UK or US?

I have a feeling you might struggle unless the site is padded out with more content. You should be able to hit first page with some work, but unfortunately there are several competing Martin Evans!

If you're trying to rank for UK, put things like a UK address and phone number on the site, and try and scoop up some .co.uk backlinks.

I had a lot of software subscriptions but got rid of them as it saved me time (and probably money) just to outsource.

Most of the things I sell you would be able to find yourself cheaper at source or even do yourself.

I mainly sell to people with little idea of what they are doing and the value that I give to my clients are:
1) I give them advice on what to do
2) I do things they have no idea how to do
3) I take the risk in case one of my outsourcers does something wrong or runs off

I wouldn't sell anything to anyone on eXceem, I'd give you advice and some outsourcing potentials instead (like above!).

I used to do some of the work myself, but I prefer to be the middle man and make less money, but also take less of my time.

Hello

One question: can I had rss feeds of an wordpress blog to my website? And if I do that, will my website get better rankings? And it is enough to post something weekly or it must be daily posting?
