You can get a solo card when you are 16 from your bank.

I don't think you need to be 16, I was 13 when I got mine. That was from NatWest. I believe its a card plus account or something like that/

Re: Solo cards?

Only disadvantage to having a solo card is that I can use it with paypal, so have been endlessly spending on ebay.

Quick question: Shall i buy the card from HSBC or Natwest? Both are available in my age group Which has better customer service / rates etc.

Re: Solo cards?

I've had my carplus account with natwest since last year and had no problems.

You get a statement every month, and if you want to pay some money in, if you fill in the paying-in slip yourself before you go to the bank you can be inside the bank as little as 30 seconds.

I don't know if it's like that in all banks as I have always got the cashier to fillin the paying in slip at royal bank of scotland, and at nationwide I only have a card, no paying in book.

I wish I was.

Only disadvantage of that is that it is illegal.

Re: Solo cards?

I had decided to do HSBC, as they do online banking (natwest don't until you are 16). However, i have hit a large snag. My parents don't want me to have one until I am 16 What do i do?! I can't complete any offers basically without a card. What reasons do you think i should put against them, that I should have a solo card? I just don't know what to say Help appreciated guys!

Re: Solo cards?

Well, tell them something in the line with "You can either buy me a PS3 when it comes out in November for around £425 or I can get one for arounf £50 if I have a Solo card!"

Cheers
Tom

Re: Solo cards?

why do you want online banking at 14? you have no need for it! if you have a solo card you can use it online at any age..

but to be honest most sites require you to be 18 (and so do the offers)
