![]() | Anyone laid any concrete?Hi all, A bit OT from freebies I know, but I was hoping to get some advice. I need to lay 2 cubic metres of concrete for an office base this weekend and have decided upon mixing it myself with the help of a friend and a concrete mixer. The question is, is this doable in a day do you think? Everyone I've spoken to says it can't be done. Has anyone else laid that much concrete at all? I'm aware that it's going to be hard work but perhaps I'm deluding myself that I can get it all done in a day. Cheers Matt |

Speak with your local cement supplier with regards to how much you will need and what parts cement and sand you will need to use. He will need to know the depth your filling and sq mtrs.

| iPod 30gb | If you cant do it in a day just stick some hardcore in the first layer so when you put the second layer on there is something for the concrete to grip on to prevent wasted labour |

![]() | Hey guys, Thanks for the replies. I've already put in a layer of hardcore and will be putting some wire mesh on top of that for extra support. I've just phoned the local builder centre and the price for aggregates and cement alone is more than someone wants to charge for delivery of ready mix concrete so it's a no brainer really!! That brings me onto the next question, are two people enough to wheel barrow 2 cubic metres of concrete about 100 foot between lorry and site? This is giving me a headache!! |

The price does go up a bit for this but in cases like this it's well worth it.

![]() | Thanks for the help guys. Cruelworld, I looked at mixamate but they wanted nearly £500 to delver the mix on Saturday morning. In the end I've found a local supplier called....wait for it....William the Concreter (how could i NOT go with him) and he's very reasonable. He's giving me an hour to offload the concrete and has one barrow I can use. I've got two mates (soulmates who I will take for a dine out) coming round to help so need to get myself another barrow. Wish me luck. |
