Some laptop techy people help please!

Hi,

I'm wanting to get a new laptop for myself (for the FFXIV ) and to be honest it's been so long since I read any tech material that I have no clue what laptops are like these days.

The minimum specs (from memory as comp acting up) are an intel core duo, nvidia 9600 series with 512 dedicated, and 2GB processor.

Basically, all the new gaming laptops I've been looking at have i7, and some new fangled GT and M nvidias.

Can someone spread some light on the games cards that are better than the 9600 series? Or better yet does anyone run ffXIV on something and it's fairly smooth?

Thanks for any help

Amy

get anything alienware and itll play. Anyway the i7 processor is one of the best around. SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOo much better than a dual core. The i7 is like 3.5 GHz. Thats really high. Also the i7 is fantastic for multitasking

I just checked it out and it looks fantastic for a laptop. Its only got a 15 inch creen though so I dont know if that will be a problem for you or not but otherwise its perfect. The only other thing is that its a lot of money so unless your a hardcore gamer you could get something cheaper than that which will still run FFXIV

Alienwares are really overpriced for their spec though. You're mainly paying for the looks and the brand.

Alienware is overpriced because of its design (the alien logo thingy and the colours etc)

If you can afford that Laptop go for it, you won't get a better one for the price imo. Also if you can afford to customise it with i7 processor you should and maybe some extra ram. That said without those will probably still play anything you throw at it full spec no problem!

A cheaper option would be building one yourself. You could make a beast of a laptop. May be difficult for. Try looking it up on youtube.
