Idea for Competition - Green Giveaway!

I know I can't post a competition on eXceem but would like to do something external that primarily features eXceem members.

It's just an idea right now and I'm looking for feedback to gauge if it might be worthwhile.

In a nutshell, the competition will be based around backlinks. I will enter everyone (ooh err missus!) who provides a backlink with my chosen link and anchor. More weight will be given to site backlinks but I will probably include social media backlinks as well.

I need to think through the mechanics but the competition winner will get their links on both of my sites for a day, which could produce anything from 5 to 15 or more greens.

Looking for positives and negatives, so be honest.

I would defiantly be up for this!! Your sites are awesome, i would love my link up and i would do almost anything to get it on your sites, and im sure so would most people

I'd be up for it! Winning could mean getting £100+ worth of gifts which would be massively worth it just for a backlink.

I think it's a great Idea, but surely if you're entering everyone there are alot of backlinks to get through if you're going to put their link on your site for a day or two, or am I reading this wrong? lol

There is only one winner. The backlinks are from entrants sites to mine as a form of entry.

It's not live yet but that's the idea, yeah.

I would make it a rule that the links have to stay in place for x amount of time, as soon as people see they haven't won they'll just remove the backlink.

True, unless I make it a monthly thing and people can keep links to be re-entered.

Like I said, I've not got into the detail yet but I was thinking one entry per unique backlink (i.e. from different sites). So yeah, could have more than one.

I could add a weighting on PR but that might limit the entries, something to think about.

Sorry if you've already stated this, will it be completely random to who gets it or will it be calculated to decide who wins?

The winner would be chosen at random from the entrants, I'd probably ask Jon or the mods to help to ensure it is all done properly (if they were willing to help of course).

maybe the PR is the multiplier
if there are two people who have 1 back link each to your site, one with a PR2 and one with a PR3 then they would get 2 and 3 entries respectively?

very generous Furbs and a nice back link building idea

Nice idea about PR, but when was the last time that it was updated and it would be biased towards those who have had a website longer and possibly don't need it as much as others.

On the multiple websites question, I have more than 1 website, can I enter them all and get 1 entry per website?
