some home insurance policies cover bikes as well, if your folks have one I would see if it covers your bike, even if its away from the house.

Funny (well, in a weird way) you should bring this up as my brother had his bike stolen last week. It was worth about £600, so he's pissed to say the least.

@Null, just been looking there actually!

@Larkino, that sucks! I had my bike stolen... managed to get it back 3 days later though thanks to a mate who saw it and then we went round to their house with a 6ft9" rower!! They handed it straight back! Said they bought it for £10 when it was worth £400!!

Does he have insurance? Police tracking etc etc?

Household insurance is normally sufficient if you list it.

You can also buy RF tags, smart water etc to identify your bike if it does get stolen and the police recover it.

Remember even the best locks can be cut through in 15 mins ish (I am lucky I have a understanding girlfriend who lets me keep it indoors )

Yea my last bike was tagged... Although the police said they could do nothing when it was stolen... Only identify it as mine when it was found Good job me and a mate found it a few days later!!

Looking into adding it to the household insurance. Which mum and dad didn't want to do coz they wanted me to take responsibility! But ~£100 is a bit much!

How about paying something towards the house insurance.

If your bike ever gets nicked I'm told you should keep an eye on ebay and gumtree. Few people have found their bikes by doing that.

Yea think that's the plan.

Yea that's a good shout! They turn up in the usual places!!

Gunna get my bike tagged soon, when they do it free at the start of Uni.

Just bought my helmet too... the CatLike Whisper Plus! Can't wait! (May need that insured too as it's over £100!)
