Reinstalling Windows Vista

Any tips?
I have a 1 TB external that I can save all my docs, pics, itunes etc on. i should be able to reinstall all of my software.
Is it easy enough to do?

Will it be like a new PC again?

Thanks

if your going to rebuild, id go with windows 7 it's much more stable and what vista should have been in the first place.

Harvez is right, but yes if you format and install from scratch it's very likely your computer will feel like new again.

It'll certainly have no viruses/spyware/adware installed.

Make sure that your backup really does have everything you want/need and scan it thoroughly to ensure you aren't just going to expose yourself again

Thanks, might try the Win 7 upgrade but don't want to pay anything really (not comfortable with using a torrent copy for the main O/S). I'm only reinstalling as the PC (well, laptop) is about 3 yaers old and has become reeeeeaaaaalllllllyyyyyy sssssssssssslllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooo ooowwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I expect to lose a few things that I'll forget I had downloaded but I expect I'll be able to find it all again if I need it.

I just got my settings perfect for utorrent as well - I can get 2mb/sec downloads at the moment! Must remember to copy all of my settings or I'll be back to half that speed

I've just done a new install of windows 7 over my crappy vista and it's working great

Only back up the files that you really need though - you might be just transferring virus' from one os to the other.
