I'm going to mod a new game of forum mafia, post here if interested.

The game will be "closed" which means you will not know what roles are in the game. I need about 10/15 players, but only apply if you're going to be active at least once every two days.

We've played most of these games in the eXtra Spam Section, but this is a little bit bigger so I've opened it to non-extra members too.

To ensure that only members who are active & regular posters play, I'm going to impose a minimum of 50 posts for anyone who wants to sign up. You must also have joined eXceem before the date this thread was created (14th June 2010).

I did open it! Read the first three rules or so and realised it was all generic bumph so stopped reading.

The spam section isn't frequently viewed, which kind of sucks for a mafia game, but I wouldn't want to hogg these boards.

I'll use this thread to get signups, then make a quick proboard on an external site for the actual game

We'll start as soon as we've got enough people, if the game is still going & you're still active when you're in Glastonbury then we'll find a replacement who can fill in

I'll play, haven't played the game for a while though. You still play EM mcgrou? And also don't put it in spam as not everyone has extra so it won't get many people there at all.

Reminds me of a story my mum told me from when she was in school...

They all got given a test. Top of the test paper said "read through all questions before beginning the test". The whole class (bar one guy) read through the questions as instructed and saw that at the bottom of the paper it said "do not answer any of the questions. Just sit in silence until the end of the test." So everyone except one guy just sat there, while he raced through the questions, clearly wanting to be the first to finish. One of the questions nearer the end said something along the lines of "stand on your chair and shout your name three times" - he must have felt a right plonker

Each day will last 48 hours, any votes cast after the deadline will not be counted. This will be strictly enforced in order to keep the game flowing smoothly. 2. The player with the most votes is lynched - in the case of a tie, no one dies. 3. There may or may not be vote manipulation. 4. The goal of the town-sided players is to kill all the mafia using any methods available. 5. The goal of the mafia is to outnumber or equal all non-mafia. 6. This is a closed game, meaning the roles in the game are not revealed. 7. The roles may have any power, but I there will be no ridiculously overpowered roles. 8. The game starts on day. You are allowed to lynch no one if you so wish. 9. If you are absent for 2 days in a row, you will be removed from the game and replaced. Not voting counts as absence. 10. No private communication between players are allowed, with the exception of the mafia and perhaps other roles allowed specifically in their role description. 11. Roles will be assigned randomly using random.org 12. To vote, type VOTE: NAME in all capitals and bold it. 13. To change vote, type "CHANGE VOTE: NAME" in all capitals and bold it. 14. Role and affiliation is revealed upon death. The role's ability is not, though they may be somewhat self-explanatory. 15. There are any number of players and a game "moderator", who is in charge. At the start of the game, the mod randomly assigns the players with different "roles" and PMs them, to let them know what their roles are. Example Roles (There are many different types): -The Townie: -Wins if all the mafia are dead. -Does nothing at night The Mafia -Wins if they outnumber or equal the number of people left in the "village". -They kill one of the villagers every night. The Doctor -Wins if all mafia are dead. -Chooses one person to doctor at night. If the mafia kill that person, they don't die. The Cop -Wins if all mafia are dead. -At night, chooses to investigate one person. They will find out if that person is sided with the mafia or the village. Playing the Game: The game begins with everyone getting PM'd by the mod with their role. The day stage then begins and the village discusses what to do. At the end of the day stage, everyone must have voted for who they think is a mafia. The person with the most votes gets "lynched" and cannot participate any further in the game. They are dead and are not allowed to post again. Once someone has been nominated to be lynched, the night stage begins. This is when the players with night actions, (The cop, doctor and mafia) PM the moderator with their choices. The mafia are allowed to communicate during the night stage via PMs. When all night actions are in, the day stage begins again and the moderator makes a post telling everyone what happened last night. The day and night stages continue until all mafia are dead, or the mafia have equalled the number of the remaining villagers. Important Rules: No one is allowed to communicate about the game outside the game forum. This means no PMs, msn, etc with other game members. Mafia can only communicate via PM during the night stage. During the day stage they should not communicate. Do not harrass, bully or insult other game members, in an attempt to influence their vote. By all means, influence them, but not through these means. Have fun! Remember its just a game... Strategies & Tactics: The cop might want to reveal himself Day 1, so that the doctor can protect him during the night. The doctor should not reveal himself, as he will almost certainly be the mafia's target that night. If you are mafia, you might want to consider faking to be the cop - in an attempt to lynch an innocent townie.
