![]() | The origins of sagging (the act of wearing trousers below waistline) came from the United States prison system due to two primary factors. First, uniforms issued to prisoners are usually a few sizes too large. Secondly, belts are sometimes prohibited to avoid suicide by hanging oneself, or to avoid being used as a weapon in fights. The style was later popularized by hip-hop artists in the 1990s.

| Romper Stomper | No idea, but it's funny watching them walk down the street like they have **** themself. It's pathetic, how they can possibly think it's a good look is beyond me. I see them every now and then walking like they have a barrel between their legs to try and keep them from falling, hitching them up every 4 or 5 steps. Ridiculous :P Cue the defence posts while you are waiting for an answer... **Edit** Answers above, still funny though

![]() | My understanding was that the "big daddy" within the prison system insisted on having the "boys" ready, i.e. without belt. Even if this is not correct, do you think if the youth of today were told that this is what their image stood for, they would soon change their style! |

| iPod 60gb | I thought that one of the reasons for baggy trousers being cool is that it originated from when clothes were handed down from brother to brother, and the bigger your trousers, the bigger your brother! |

![]() | If your going say "youth of today" surely you have to state who your comparing them with. I mean personally I don't think the teddy boy uniform of the 50's look to great. Nor am I fond of the hippy fashion from the 60's (probably the worst) I also don't like the mods or the rockers costumes from the past. battling with the hippies for the worst uniforms, I would defiantly say it was the people in shell suits of the 80's so with this ^ in mind. Is the way the "youth of today" dress really that bad? I would defiantly settle for the way we dress today than any other era if I had a choice. Lets be honest sagging really isn't that much of a problem compared to what it was in the 90's. (however I don't like it if there is too much sagging, without a belt) So in conclusion, I personally think that the "youth of today" probably dress better than ever. And it should also be mentioned that the "old biddies" of each generation have always had a problem in the way the "youth of today" dress throughout the 20th-21st century old biddies = 26+ (maybe 27 at a push |

I would say that I am fitter now than I was 10 years ago and improving, walking the 25 miles (which I intend to do again) is something I would have struggled doing 10 years ago. I watched a couple of early 20 year olds try it the day before, they went off real fast and next time i saw them, at the end, they were obviously in pain and took longer than I did the next day, so...... There's still life in us oldies yet
