Hey Guys,

I know personally I'm a couple of exams into my GCSE season and all seems to be going okay. Just wondering how everyone getting on so far.

Just have the one exam left for my 2nd year degree!

Audit&tax on the 4th.... Really not looking forward to it an have very little time to revise due to a full time office job!

So a little worried but fingers crossed!

i had GCSE lit today... loads of poems i didnt understand lol

but my other exams are all AS level and i have put in some effort for them lol

question on of mice and men was hardest for me, mainly cos I'd already done the other two before

Ha! I laugh in the face of your 2 hour 15 mins with my..2 hour 30 mins Welsh Board exam.

Don't ask why we do Welsh Board for English Lit...I haven't a clue. I did A View from the Bridge, Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha and we get one surprise poem at the end, which ended up being 'The Summer Day'.

I'm with AQA like cameron - i did pre 1914 poems, An Inspector Calls and Lord of the Flies.

Found it ok

Yes i have! Trying to learn the flame tests and precipitates - think i've got it

Only problem is i can't do titrations at all :/ Oh well, hopefully i'll get the A i need for an A* overall

Ive got one left!!! Today I found out that reading the recommended texts by a lecturer really does help lol, I wish I started reading them alot sooner tbh.

Roll on June 2nd when im free for 4 months

Flame Tests:

Potassium = Lilac
Barium = Green/Yellow
Calcium = Brick Red
Sodium = Yellow/Orange

Precipitates from Sodium Hydroxide

Copper (II) = Blue
Iron (II) = Green
Aluminum, Calcium and Magnesium = White

Ammonium gives off ammonia gas when reacted with sodium hydroxide, recognized by its smell and it also is alkaline so reacts with indicator.

If a carbonate is added to an acid, it will give off carbon dioxide which will create a white precipitate in lime water.

Precipitates from Nitric Acid and Silver Nitrate

Chloride = White
Bromide = Cream
Iodine = Yellow

Sodium hydroxide and aluminum powder added to a nitrate will also give off ammonia gas, which can be tested in the same way.

Cheers man, i've got a flame test for lithium down as well - turns bright red

Should be ok, i'm awesome at the alkali metal stuff and the halogens as well, plus a lot of this stuff is common sense as well

I hope the paper's a nice one!

EDIT - ooh, and iron (III) goes reddish brown

I did Lit with Welsh board today, the Of mice and men and Blood Brothers whole novel questions were really quite hard, however I found the extract and poem rather easy. Chemistry tomorrow and Physics friday
