One for the photographers

I was shown this yesterday. For anyone with the technical photography know how behind this, you'll appreciate just how much work has gone in to making this video. But either way, it's amazing to watch...

although it is very pretty i am not sure it is that technically brilliant, to it seems like he has just made a time-lapse video and put a blur on the top and bottom to give it a centred/very shallow DOF and thus making everything look miniature.

am i right?

Nope. Read how it was done. He took 35000! shots.

Aero Film: "The Sandpit" - A short film by Aero Director, Sam O'Hare!

Trust me, it took dedication and a lot of skill to do this.

But it's not true tilt-shift as he didn't use a tilt shift lens. He used to 'ordinary' lenses, then applied the effect using software afterwards.

yes after the interview i have much more respect for what he has achieved.
the look is very nice and pretty unique, at first i couldn't actually work out if it was full scale or mini recreation. but as i started looking at the trees and people it is clear that it is full scale.

not sure if i could be arsed with all those frames and counting to the end of each multi-shot to begin again :S

photoshop can make any photo into a tilt shift one, but for the film to be made with that many photos, fair play! I like it

It is incredible. I've tried doing the tilt-shift effect on one or two still frames, and not really managed it. But to do it on 35000 shots is incredible.

I reckon that could easily enter the Animation category at the Oscars and be in with a shout of winning.
