I've still got a job. Phew!

Well some of you might have read that I was threatened with redundancy a few months ago, and for the past few weeks I've been cackin it that I was going to lose my job.

Well, we found out this week that our jobs are safe. We had to lose 38 from my dept, 35 were found through voluntary, and the other 3 getting the chop are managers.

I'm so relieved. I went into the meeting when we got told the other day fully believing we were about to get told we were all getting the chop. It would have been the last thing I needed right now.

I hope I never have to go through that again.

Phew.. I am getting paranoid too.... do you work in a patcularly recession hi business?? I am in high end retail which seems to be a bit hit and miss at the moment!!

Not really, but the companies coffers are not their own, if you get me. Don't want to give away too much about where I work cos I'll just get a ton of stick.

Congrats on keeping your job.

I know exactly how you feel my place of work has payed off people every january for the last 2 years and i've been lucky to escape the cull so far, when i started with them 12yrs ago there was over 170 people working on the shop floor and now there is only about 65.

Well at least you'd get a decent pay out if you did. I've only been working for this place for 2 1/2 years, so I'd of got a couple of months pay.

I would only get one weeks pay for every year i've been there

plus my notice period money, the people who have left with my length of service where lucky to come out with £7000-£8000 so its not that great for 12yrs service, it would only be good if you had another job to walk straight into.

I reckon I know where he works, didn't realise they were doing redundancies though.

No one will give you stick for it, or at least no one should as you are not your employer!!
