Youchies - Sprained Ankle

I don't usually get injuries during sport, but today was different.

Me and my mates were playing football after Uni today when my mate pulled an amazing tackle on me. The only problem was his leg trapped my foot and I went down on my ankle like a tonne of bricks.

The ankle is still very painful and has swollen like a bugger (happened about 12).

Now, I don't usually EVER consider going the doctors about something so petty. But this is worse than other swollen ankles I have had in the past.

What do you think I should do? Just keep resting it and tube-grip it?

Swollen:

Normal:

And again:

Eurgh, I hate feet!!!

R.I.C.E

Rest Ice Compress elevate.

And get a doc to advise you, don't rely on a freebie forum

Landy is a jewel in the rough
I done mine playing squash, not friday gone but friday before. Colour is only just returning to normal, still hurts to walk on at times and certainbly can't twist it yet. wont be able to run properly till mid april I don't think, and I doubt i'll be playing squash/footy till end of may!!!

My advice, keep off it as much as possible and get it strapped up to limit movement!!

As previously stated R.I.C.E it. apply ice for 20 mins at a time, then rest for 20 then apply again. Try and make sure you can keep your ankle above your heart for as long as possible to allow the fluid to drain off.
