Windows 7, definitely.

I'm using it, XP has nothing on it. If you choose XP, you will be 2 operating systems behind...!

edit: if you're looking at getting a laptop, not sure how many shops will sell them with XP still on them

the xp brand has been discontinued but you can get them on selected netbooks..

xp runs fast because you only need 256MB of RAM to run it..

But great OS

For windows, the best is windows 7 without a doubt, I've just got it and I love it, so many new features on it. I upgraded from xp and I haven't seen most of the new stuff yet!

I'd definitely say windows 7 is the way forward, it's what Vista should have been when they launched it really.

all depends what you want the pc for... and ofc its specs

For macros/work, software that isnt updated that much > xp

Mixed stuff > Windows 7

Gaming > Vista

7 by far. At the start I didn't really notice much of a difference but used an older comp the other day and it's just more user friendly

I was using Win7 RC1, and now I've gone back to Vista, I've noticed that for games Vista is faster than RC1. However, that may have been due to poor driver support for the Win7 RC1. Vista has probably better supported drivers.

Before I went back to Vista, I tried re-installing Win XP as it's faster than Vista as it doesn't need as many resources. But as I have quite a new laptop, I couldn't get all the XP drivers I needed, so had to just use Vista. I think I might get Windows 7 in a while as I did prefer it over Vista.

If you can run W7 on your pc spec then do it, if you can't, then stick with XP. That's my advice. I am SO glad I upgraded to W7, it is rather lovely!
