CV cover letter

Hey folks, i'm printing out cv's at the minute and i've not really though much about a covering letter to go with them. I've just seen a job advertised that is looking for both a cv and a covering letter to go with it. The only problem i have is, what do i put in the covering letter that's not already in my cv?

I've got both mine and their address and as far as dear sir/madam / to whom it may concern etc and i can't for the life of me think of anything type up that i've not covered in the cv itself.

Has anyone here got any ideas of what i could include? I'd really appreciate it!

Hi Aaron,

I always found that the covering letter is the bit you personalise about the job you are applying for. The CV is a generic record of your skills/abilities but you can use the letter to tailor it for the job you are applying for.

I tend to include why I'd like to work for the company in question, what I can bring to that company and why the skills I've listed in the CV would benefit the role in question.
