Black or white iPods for resale?

Hey there exceemers, I was hoping to pick your collective brains about selling ipods on eBay. I've got my 30Gb and don't need any more, but I've just qualified for my nano from freepay and am well on the way to my 30Gb from euroipods. I am intending to sell these (presuming eBay is the best place to do so) and was wondering which colour seems to go for the higher prices? I've tried a completed items search but there are hardly any white ones on there so can't get a very good idea of how each colour goes. Anyone got any experience of this?

Whilst I'm asking, does anyone have any better places to advertise to sell iPods?

i would say black ones go for more.

as for a better place, you should try selling at a work place/uni. you wont have to pay any charges and can sometimes get more money as you dont have to compete with overseas prices

(also, if you or your other half maybe are looking for a psp, i have a brand new one i would be happy to swap with you)

My work doesn't really have enough people to be a viable option, I meant more whether there is anywhere to advertise that would be less swamped than eBay! And no thanks on the PSP I'm afraid.

Anyone else managed to sell an iPod for a good price and can help out here? I had originally thought the black but since there are so many of them on eBay compared to the white I'm not so sure.

I think brierley sold his nano (not sure which colour) on ebay for over the retail value...which he then spent on a psp! However that was over the xmas period, i would say white probably sells the best as its "original" colour ipod...

I dont have any past experience of selling them as i kept both of mine, 20gb one for hifi and nano for out and about...but theres always people posting (I got my free ipod from somewhere and im selling it on ebay!!). Im sure this post will be answered well in the morning

i have sold 3 on ebay, you will get around £195, then maybe £5 postage and packaging on top.
they cost £4.25 to deliver recorded delivery, guarenteed next day by 1pm and u get a tracking number.
dont think colour really matters but i know of someone who could not find a 30GB white in the shops a while bit back, so at a push i would say white go for more.
I think a good listing is essential, do a search for 30GB video ipods and take a look at other listings, copy and paste the best stuff from all of them.
Also i splash out and use bold, subtitle and have a background colour so it stands out from the list, i think gallery pic is a total must for selling ipods or anything really.

how much would you be selling the nano for, and the 30gb one?

i had all my credits in december to get a 4gb nano from freegadgets4me, they said it would take a while to get it posted and offered paypal instead.
i didn't think it would take this long so i said i would hang on, but i may get them to send paypal now.

I would ideally like to get as close as possible to the actual price of it, since some networks will do paypal instead for the full value. I could change my shipping address to yours (so long as you would pay in advance) and provide screenshots to prove it to make the shipping free!

It is a 4Gb from Freepay and they are currently approving my account. I would gladly accept your paypal from freegadgets4me (provided they gave you the UK price, you must have got an extra ref for shipping after all) and send you my nano. You can even pick the colour!

Free4me are usually very quick, so get in touch with them and let me know how much you'll be getting and therefore can send me. They should give a minimum $300 for that, which works out at £170ish, which is about right for a nano. You might find you end up with more than the ipod's worth since you must have an extra ref for UK shipping!

You can sell a new iPod on eBay for its retail price, or there abouts...

I'm not sure why this is, I think its because people cant be bothered to go into the shops and buy one, and also the fact of buying something off of eBay makes them feel good like getting the feedback for it etc.

OK Lui, I'm now approved so would be looking to order soon. Please let me know about the cash - I know from personal experience that free4me are quick off the mark when it comes to answering queries of this nature. I don't want to order until I know whether to send it to you or to me!

If we go ahead I would suggest this....

I put an auction on eBay for the nano at the price we agree, and approved bidders only (obviously just approving you). Then when you do buy it, you have free4me pay me directly (avoiding fees from paypal - unless you have a personal accout which doesn't charge in which case it doesn't matter). I have freepay send the ipod directly to you and provide you with a screenshot to show it's been ordered to your address.

Sound good? Let me know if you're up for this still since I'd like to get it straight onto eBay if you're not!

Yup, this has all been agreed through pm. I've left off ordering the ipod from freepay so will have them send it directly to Lui's address as soon as I get the money, and will provide screenshots to Lui to prove that it's been ordered and sent to his address. I'm just about to send a screenshot to confirm I'm at the ordering stage too.

Another update: the account is still on processing but it says it should only stay that way for 7-10 days. It's been a while now so hopefully shouldn't take too long. Lui, if you want a screenshot to prove it then that's fine too. It will look the same as the last one but I could show something date-specific on the same screen to prove it (like maybe this thread in another window, or a newspaper story from today).
