Change my Xbox 360 for a PS3?

I'm hoping to change my TV for a HD plasma and toying with the idea of changing my Xbox 360 for a PS3, not just for the gaming but to use as a blu-ray player.

It's a tough choice, I'm kinda attached to the 360, have a nice set of games and Xbox live.

What does the PS3 offer, what is it's equivalent to Live like and how does the blu-ray player perform.

One for the fan boys, what should I do ?

Id say stick with ye ole xbox 360. Id rather not pay £17.99 per Blu-ray disk.

Or why not just get the PS3 for the blu-ray and keep the xbox for Live

I had an xbox and swapped it for the ps3. Overall im pleased with the decision, its nice to have things like the bigger harddrive (unless you have the elite then its the same, for the slim anyways), bbc iplayer application and the web browser.

Overall the online isn't as good as xbox live imo, but good enough to not really truly miss xbox live, espcially when you consider that it's free.

The blu-ray player is pretty darn good as well, especially for the overall price of the ps3 compared to other blu-ray players.

All in all i stand by my decision, especially with the new update features like the video store where you can buy and rent films, haven't used it yet but the interface is nice and the prices are reasonable

Hope this helps

Hmm, I don't get why people say that xbox live is better, PSN just needs a party chat and it'll be mintage.

I'd go for PS3 all day long, free interet, nice selection of games, and it has an internet browser so you can watch charlie biting somebodies finger on a huge ass tv.

I would stay with the Xbox 360
More people, cheaper games, familiar with it, and you have xbox live! My cousin swapped his for a ps3 and totally regretted it
But that's my views

I have both and my xbox hasnt been turned on for months lol.

For me its because i play online with mates who have a PS3. Id probably say that the xbox is the better all round media package, but the lack of blu ray lets it down big style.

Does PS3 have built in wireless or do you need an adaptor like the 360?

If you could make room you can get a blu-ray player for pretty cheap now, then you could keep the Xbox 360!

its wireless, and you can also use it to stream media from your computer to your ps3, like films and pictures.

Good thinking, especially since this is down to £699 with TV and player!

Buy Panasonic Viera TX-P42G10B Plasma HD 1080p Digital TV, 42 Inch with Built-in freesat and Blu-ray online at JohnLewis.com

ps3 imho is a much better all rounder.
bbc iplayer with more to follow itv and chan4 also sky so basically its a pvr
streaming music movie's and pictures in full 1080p from your pc is a simple job
oh and the games aint bad either.

My hubby has both set up as he could not decide. Its done neatly with a Wii aswell.

PS3 does more stuff but the xbox works better for gaming. Just things like talking to your mates work much better on xbox as the PS3 mics dont seem to cut in fast enough.

If you stick with xbox make sure you plug it in using HDMI other wise its picture aint good.

PS3 is wireless so one less cable. And You can buy new black cases on ebay for an xbox if you keep it.

Anoying thing is on the xbox you can't drag any movies or songs from a usb stick to the harddrive like you can on PS3.
