What sort of specs do you need for Windows 7. Will it be ok on my 1Gb desktop or will I need to upgrade?

Windows 7 is awesome! Windows' best operating system yet. All you mac lovers will cry at it's amazingness, and also be willing to sell your grandparents to get a copy.

I have Windows 7 at home and I am part of a trial at work that will be pushing out W7 to laptops over the coming few weeks.

I love it, its performance is so much better than Vista,

I've been running it since it was released and I like it a lot. It was the easier OS I've ever installed and I've had no performance issues with it (although I do have 4GB of RAM so there shouldn't be any problems).

Can't see myself going back to XP.

I will be able to install it OK. I am a PC Technician. Just hadn't seen the Min specs for it. I remember what vista was like on a 1GB machine so thought I would ask

its good john, you've most likely got the same rc as mine (7100), cant fault it tbh. Looks as good if not better than vista. I explain it as having the appeal of vista with the performance of xp!

i run the 32bit version on my laptop with 2gb ram and a 1.6ghz duo core processor. Runs very quick just like xp.

I used to use Comodo Firewall however it didn't work the Windows 7 RC (even though it did with the beta). I did try Kaspersky AV and firewall but found that caused my PC to freeze within minutes of start up so I removed it.

I now use Avira AV and the build in Windows firewall.

The built in firewall is pretty good, although I dont trust MS applications that much so I use the Virgin Media firewall and AV, which surprisingly is very good

I've just installed it now, and it's very aesthetically pleasing. It was surprisingly quick (and easy) to install aswell... I'm using build 7100; does that mean it's one of the latest versions?

As -null- said, 7100 is the latest official RC version.. but the absolute latest version that the public BETA keys works on is Build 7260 for 32bit OS.. not sure of the 64bit, but can find out if thats what you using?

Just to add, if you do want to try a later version that has been leaked, be careful with it since some people add spyware and whats not to them.. On dedicated computer forums you will find that they have posted later version with hash keys, like the CRC32, MD5 and SHA-1 numbers.. if they don't match with the leaked version they been tampered with!

Cheers
Tom
