Whats the law like on MOT's?

So my MOT runs out on the 18th of march which is today. My cars gone past point of repair so giving it an MOT is pointless. If i were to drive what could happen?

you would get done for it.....saying its beyond repair doesnt say much for the safety of your car on the road for yourself and others.

Your insurance would also be invalid.

This will be my 1st time in a year without a car hah, wierd. Shall have to get the bus or someting.

@ arcticfox- its not as bad as I make out, Its not a moving deathtrap. But the repairs are probs more than the worth of the car which is pointless.

from what i understood they can only seiure your car if you dont have a valid driving licence or Insurance. No tax or MOT is to do with the DVLA - you will get fined and points and also get reported to the DVLA which can then claim your car and crush it.

Not sure whether i have this totally right (prob totally wrong)

If it does not have a valid MOT then the Police could say its not in a roadworthy condition and sease it for that. If it was a "newish" car and obvious in good repair and you were 1/2 days late Id guess the police may show discretion.

Though if you yourself admit its beyond repiar, then in the eyes of the police it wont be road worthy and they will take action. As the saint said if you drive any car without a valid MOT it will invalidate your insurance, and more importantly it could be a danger to you, cyclists, pedestrians and other cars.

Hose in the petrol tank then suck. You have to be quick so you don't end up swallowing some petrol and make sure the end of the hose outside the car is lower than the end inside.

That's what I was told anyway.

My MOT runs out on my car today as well, but it's already off the road as the timing chain snapped last week. It's currently sitting with half the engine in the boot.

Why don't you drive your car to a dodgy bit of town, wait for it to get stolen then claim on the insurance for whatever they give you?

Or you could sell it for spares.

He would still need to get the MOT done tho cus if you havent got an MOT the insurance is void.

Stick it on ebay for spares
