2012 Prophecies???

whats everyones opinion on the subject of 2012, more specifically december 21st 2012 and how there are prophecies that something could collide with this planet,
im not sure what to think really, i have done some reading on it and some of the information is quite interesting, but then you get people also saying its a load of BS!!
The reason i believe something may happen is because space is unpredictable, and no government want any of the public to know that something could happen in 2012 at this moment in time.

any opinions on the matter?

Well there have been so many predictions and prophecies in the past while. Namely nostradamus and his prophecies.
The worlds been due to end about 5 times since i've been born.
If it ends it ends, it'll be over so quickly we won't even have time to panic.

that true, i remember the last one in 2000, but the information that is being put forward is mind blowing, ive never seen so many theory's, Chinese calender, Mayan calender, NASA, Area 51...ect,

If space is so "unpredictable" then how can u predict it will end on this certain day??!!

It's a prophecy which has some scientific merit.

The object in question is called Nibiru, or Planet X. It's said to have an oliptical orbit of 3600 years. Every time it comes aroung, because of the gravitational force it causes tidal waves and lots of seizmic activity which would kill 90% of the earth's (human) population.

There are gravitational forces on the outer planets (I beleive) that cannot be explained in any other way than the presence of a large object.

The general concensus is that it's a red dwarf star, but it could also feasably be a large asteroid .

The Sumarians had alot to say about Nibiru (Nibiru being the sumerian word for the planet) stating that it was like a second sun in the sky.

The Mayan Clandar also finishes on 12/12/12.

Some say a spritual awakening will occure where those who are ready will spiritually evolve (perhaps into the fourth dimension).

Whatever happens though, we haven't got long to wait.

because with the last cycle of a comet/12th planet in the solar system, which was recorded by NASA themselves, its predicted to come into earths orbit during the year 2012, the reason 21st of December is so specific, is because the Chinese calender and Mayan calender finish at that time.

It basically explains how 21.12.2012 is going to be a very significant date, but very unlikely will it be the end of the world.

The Mayans theories are something we'd be fools to completely disregard, because although they lived before us, they knew far more about astronomy than we do today. How they knew all this is still a mystery, but their perception of time was that it is cyclical and not linear as we imagine it today.

The end of their calendar marks the new age of aquarius, and so is a very significant date. I personally believe an event will occur in 2012 that will change our world dramatically in terms of our behaviour and treatment of the planet.

To think this stuff is ridiculous mythology is very closed-minded, because such events have happened at least 4 times already. The ice age is the most recent one but their have been 4 ages and there will be a 5th. The Mayans knew this without any of the technology we have today, and they knew this by simply looking at the stars. They would sit around a rectangular pool and use the reflection of the night sky to study the stars.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to watch this documentary if you are interested in this subject, I learnt an awful lot from it including how different this is from any of Nostradamus' predictions which I for one believe is all mumbo jumbo. To give some perspective, I am not a believer in the supernatural, only the unexplained.

Trust me watch it, you'll learn a lot about this.

Ice age is a to do with temperature change that is part of the earths natural cycle, bronze age is a period of human history when people learned how to use bronze as tools, before this was the stone age.
Egyptians? What do you mean by this? the ancient Egyptians where a civilisation, and like all civilisations, had its day in the spotlight but lost most of its power, the romans had a lot to do with this. None of the examples youve mentioned have anything to do with each other.

What do they teach in school nowadays?

commenting on the ice age thing, yes it is to do with the earths cycle, but what mad it happen at the rate it did, thats what i mean, how could an ice age form and go so quickly? The only answer is to look at the earths cycle and orbit in space, and obviously something disrupting the poles or axis of earth will cause major climate change istantly.

Anthropologists know plenty about civilisations dating back longer than that, we would know and it would be pretty highly discussed if something happened at any point in history to wipe out 90% of the human (and presumably also animal) population.

It didn't happen instantly, it occured over a significant period of time, it just seems quick compared to the history of the universe but the earth goes through temperature changes at relatively predictable periods naturally.

At the end of the day I'm always sceptical about people who say "so and so knew much more about this than we do even though it is a mystery how they know it". They may have just guessed some things right, or post the event we may interprete their words so that they appear right. Without knowing how someone got to an answer you have to be weary of it.

For example most of the prophets and their prophecy's are quite vague and can have lots of interpretations. It is only after an event occurs that fits in with that vague prophecy that we start thinking "wow they were" right!!! It is similar to something called a "cold read", google it.

But there are so many various prophesy's out there that some of them are bound to appear to be true whatever happens. Doesn't mean the person giving them was particularly insightful or anything.

Also, talk about covering up things that happen in space seems a bit far fetched, there are so many thousands of powerful public telescopes scouring the whole sky that most things of interest would become public knowledge.

all this stuff is explained in that doc quite well. ice age is more to do with polar axis than anything else. not really a case of temperature change. the ice age definitely happened quickly compared to gradual global temperature increase, but still not as quickly as portrayed in The Day after Tomorrow
