iPods

So, i'm thinking of getting an iPod, i've never had an iPod or any other MP3 player etc. before.
  1. And was wondering if they are actually worth it?
  2. If so which one would you recommend me please and what size (Gb)?
  3. I am after using it whilst I am training and also be able to use it when I get my car so must have some form of AUX out or something.

Also, if anybody knows where I can pick up a cheap iPod from, i'm all ears!? I was wondering if it's at all possible to get a decent 8gb Nano for less than 5 ref's as that's what i've been recommended but would like to know what you's say 1st

I've gotta say if you have never had an MP3 player you can't go wrong with an ipod. Which one is the best depends on the size of your music library, budget etc but a nano would be a good choice for training. An 8gb is is 5 refs on most sites and should be enough to put a load of training songs on without getting bored.

You can get FM transmitters to get it to link up with your car, or a lot of car CD players have a lead to plug into the headphone jack.

I prefere Creative (zens) and Archos. In my opinion iPods aren't very good at all. The main thing I look for when chosing a player is sound quality which iPods lack compared to other brands.

As said before Archos are very good indeed but the newer models are very bulky. I would stick with creative personally if size is an issue.

Also, I would recommend getting new head/earphones as the supplied ones are almost always horrible.

Headphones I would recommend;
Sennheiser PX200 Closed Mini Headphone: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Earphones: Beyerdynamic DTX50 In Ear Bud Headphone - White: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Those earphones are the best I have had. I bought them based on the reviews from What Hifi.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

Also for training I would recommend getting wireless headphones, I always find the wires annoying at the gym and love my wireless ones - though the transmitter unit is annoyingly large! I use logitech ones which were £50 when I got them 18 months ago, can't find them on amazon right now but have a look around as there is a wide choice.

The actual socket fits fine, but depending on which model you get the "lines" might not match. But there are lots of models and different bluetooth transmitters so see what you can find.

Amazon.co.uk: bluetooth headphones
Item number 10 seems OK, but there's other that might take your fancy.

If you are getting an iPod, get an ipod touch! Nano's and classics are too boring imo

The touch may be too heavy and bulky to have jumping around my pocket whilst on a run or in the gym, but thanks all the same mate.
