Got a job!

After being made redundant in mid december I have found another role. I had an interview yesterday and they called me this morning to say I could start on monday.

It's only a 9-5 admin job, however this will give me the opportunity to study for an MCDST and hopefully get into IT.

I know there are others on here who have also been made redundant so I hope this shows there are jobs out there. I would recommend looking at gumtree for your local area on a daily basis as this (I have found) is the best place to find vacancies.

I recently completed the MCDST. Took me about 12 months from start to finish but a lot of this was waiting around for exam slots.

Good to hear you completed it! Are you going to find a 1st line role now?

I have been working 1st line for Virgin Media for just over 12 months now. It is quite good only the bosses keep moving the goalposts for what they want us to achieve.

It is a long way off the Pub Management that I did for the previous 8 years beforehand

1st line technical support - means we do the basic checks on a pc and other things before passing major problems to 2nd line team

Ainsleeeeeeee, admin jobs are easy, as long as you are working at a sensible rate you are usually left alone. Well that's from what I have experienced.

the job I have just got is at American Express, they are bringing alot of their bsuiness (contact centers, administration etc)over to the UK from mainland Europe. My role will be to ensure that the customer's information that is being sent over the internal network has not altered during the change over.

What I gather is that I will be given lists of accounts to check that all the information is still valid and complete.

In this example I don't think it will be difficult and it's fairly good money for what it is.

Wow, that was a bit indepth.
