![]() | guitar tabs...Hello beautiful people~ Hope everyone is well (I certainly am not, have flu, chest infection AND allergies all coming out in one go To the point... I'm not a guitar player, but I was hoping to learn this song & play it for my partner's birthday, but can't find the tabs / chords anywhere to learn because he's not too well known...does anyone know Jay Jay Pistolet's 'Happy Birthday You' and by any chance have chords/tabs that they can lend me...or is amazing and want to write the chords out for me...? (here's the song: YouTube - Jay Jay Pistolet Live: River Rat Pack Tour Launch) |

![]() | It's not just a normal happy birthday song, it's THE happy birthday song (just felt like doing a bit of M&S style advertising there As far as I can hear, there's only 3 or so different chords, but I know nothing about guitars so it doesn't help that much :/ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | RIght, looks like he has a capo on the 3nd fret, but I can't find mine but I think you can do it without. Not best sound quality and this is mostly through looking at the shapes of the chords, but I think it's something along the lines of (any musicians, apologising for only using sharps, don't have a symbol for flats on my keyboard!) Verse D# G7, G# D#(possibly with a D bass) A# (the D# and A# at the end is half a bar each) Chorus Cm G7, G# D# then a quick drop of the bass note to D (rest of chord stays the same) then second time round Bm F#7, G D (hold for a coupld of bars then back to chorus) If you don't have a capo and want to play the open chords (which on my guitar sound much better than when I did them as bar chords) you can change the key and play it this way Verse C E7, F(just play the D,G, and B strings of the chord and have an open high E) C G (again, last two chords half a bar) Chorus Am E7, F(chord shape as above) C C/B, Am E7, C G. Like I say that's a quick guess and didn't listen past the first chorus but I'll try and have a better go later (or possibly tomorrow) if no one else comes up with anything better. You will also need to listen to get the timing as I couldn't really think of a way of describing the timing properly in a post! Last edited by the_saint; 22-11-08 at 12:33 PM.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | He's using a capo basically going around the C G and D chords... I can't find my capo atm, so can't be too sure EDIT: Saint beat me to it |

![]() ![]() | My attempt: I'm assuming you wont have a capo, so I'll write it using the normal pen chords and the pattern will just be the same shaped in a different place if you do have one. Verse C (g in bass), E, open F (leave top E open) , C, G. The C and G are played for half the length of the others Chorus Am, E, open F, C, G Think that's it, just play that pattern at whatever position sounds best. I tried it at a few positions, but the capo at 3rd threat seems to sound the best. |

![]() ![]() | If she can play them. Most people that don't really play the guitar can only play a few open chords, as bar chords require more strength that she won't have developed if she doesn't play. It'd be much easier to learn if she has a capo. |

![]() ![]() | I used to be much better, uni has ruined my guitar playin. I did Advanced higher music and played just solo acoustic stuff like Martin Taylor – I'm On My Way – Listen free at Last.fm and YouTube - Chet Atkins - Mr. Sandman (TV 1954) Nowadays, I hardly play, just too busy. You? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Uni made me better! I was in bands and I got $h!t hot!! Having a job ruined mine, though I have been making a conscious effort to play at least 20 minutes every day recently so getting closer to my previous speeds. |
