| eXtra! | Bloody internet speeds! My internet speed dropped about 30 minutes ago to about 20% of what it normally is I'm on Cable, and the only thing I can think of is the football match. Would lots of people streaming this have an effect on my internet speeds? |

| is looking for a new job | Virgin have a traffic management policy whereby if you download a certain amount of data or upload a certain amount you get managed to 25% of your internet speed. See Traffic management - Help - Virgin Media for more details. Also as I know you are from the same area as myself there is a major network upgrade happening over the coming weeks which should be completed around the 3rd December to allow for better utilisation of the network as well as getting it ready for the 50Mb rollout at the end of the year.

| is looking for a new job | Depends what times you do any downloading and if you hit the triggers within the timescale. Anybody can be managed throughout the day no matter if they have downloaded anything in the past. If you hit the trigger on that particular day you will be managed for 5 hours from the time you hit the trigger.

| eXtra! | Net speeds sorted themselves out the next day. Apparently there are ongoing works in our area, combined with the 360 update, Prison Break and Heroes = sloooooooooooow. |

| is looking for a new job | Let me know your postcode and I can check the servers for high usage but I can't tell you if you are being traffic managed as it breaks data protection and could get me prosecuted as well as sacked
